The Dead Weather have released their latest video clip for Impossible Winner, the closing track on their 2015 album Dodge & Burn. The latest in a series of clips and short videos from the band, in lieu of a live tour with the album, Impossible Winner is suitably freakish and dark – as you would expect from the US band.

And by freakish, I mean quite literally. A grainy, black and white production, the video features the band members, and other strange characters, as captives on a what appears to be a rickety circus train. Under the eery swinging lights, Alison Mosshart writhes, legless, on a mound of dirt. Jack White and Jack Lawrence feature too many limbs and fingers between them, while Dean Fertita… plays piano. This all goes down under the watch of rough guards and in amongst a sad array of others, including a girl with a chelsea smile.

Directed by industry veterans Sophie Muller and Ross McDowell, the production is an impressive complement to The Dead Weather’s inimitable aesthetic. The video premiered exclusively on TIDAL today, and can be viewed here. It will also be made available via the band’s Vevo channel February 5th Eastern Time.

The lead up to the release of the clip for Impossible Winner has been marked by The Dead Weather with a series of eery trailers. Watch the selection below for a taster of what’s to come.

The Dead Weather recently released their third album titled Dodge & Burn, and whilst the band have remained adamant they would not be touring for the record, they have instead been treating fans to personalised videos to provide a little more insight into the supergroup.

Last month, the band released a video of Jack White discussing his drumming technique, and now we have a video of singer Alison Mosshart and a discussion on her lyricism. Each video also includes a performance by the band, and whilst White’s featured an alternate version of Hang You Up From The Heavens (from 2009’s Horehound album), this latest video shows the band performing Lose The Right taken from their latest release.

“I have so many ideas when I’m driving so I drive a lot and I have a little notebook somewhere. Writing and driving on the highway is one of the most dangerous things you could do,” Mosshart says candidly in the video. “It’s similar to texting and driving but harder because you have to hold the paper down on the steering wheel and write and what happens if the pen doesn’t work so you’re digging around in the backseat and you’re freaking out because you don’t want to forget something that you’ve just thought of.” The video then goes on to see Mosshart casually discuss how she works and why she does what she does. It’s intimate and provides an insight into a softer side that might not necessarily be too obvious given the growls and screams she is capable of when she sings.

Check the clip below and get yourself ready for the electrifying performance after Mosshart’s few minutes of solo camera time. Absolutely stupefying.

In the lead up to the release of their hugely anticipated third album, Dodge and BurnThe Dead Weather took to US late night TV to break their silence and perform for the first time in five years. However, the term “perform” is a little bit of an understatement.

Absolutely storming Late Show with Stephen Colbert with their single I Feel Love (Every Million Miles); lead singer Alison Mosshart‘s shriek, Jack White‘s drums, Dean Fertita‘s searing hot guitar and Jack Lawrence‘s badass bass gave the audience a rock n roll treat they won’t soon be forgetting. Although the band had warned fans they will not be touring, there is no denying their live show is still as blistering as ever.

What started off as your standard late night TV performance got really interesting from the first chorus, when a lighting effect changed the colour scheme to reflect the band’s album cover – a bare palette of black, white and purple with the band members totally void of colour, appearing almost grey. Proving once again that they don’t do anything by halves, of course The Dead Weather would play with lighting techniques and effects for a one-song performance.

Dodge and Burn comes five years after the band’s 2010 album, Sea of Cowards and is out September 25 via White’s own Third Man Records.

First The Dead Weather announced the release of their new album Dodge and Burn on September 25th via Jack White‘s Third Man Records. Their first record in five years.

Awesome.

Then they let us down by announcing they wouldn’t be touring off the back of the album’s release.

Bummer.

They released a track, but it’s only really available on TIDAL.

Ugh.

Then they gave us a glimmer of hope by announcing they’d be performing on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert on September 14th.

Tentatively excited.

Then they reminded us of what we’d be missing if they follow through on their no-tour mandate.

Damn.

Filmed at Third Man Records the band today released a visually edited live clip of the track I Feel Love (every million miles). The previously released track is listed as the opening song on Dodge and Burn and you can see why. It’s a gut-kick of tight rock’n’roll with Alison Mosshart‘s (The Killsvocals bursting forth over the tight musicianship of Jack White, Dean Fertita and L’il Jack Lawrence.

So while we may be disappointed that a band with such an electric and visceral live presence won’t be gracing us with a tour, at least we get a hint of what we’re missing. Hopefully this will tide us over for another five years when they have enough time away from their side projects to release another album and perform on Conan or something.

Months after finishing up on The Colbert ReportStephen Colbert will commence his debut as the host of The Late Show on September 9th. While his position of the job is an excitement in itself, Colbert’s announcement of the guests that will perform on the second week of the show, has made the show even more inviting to us music lovers.

As we have already reported, Kendrick Lamar will be the first musical guest to appear on the new show, as Colbert takes to the stage, replacing David Letterman, who was farewelled by musical guests including Tom Waits, Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder and Bob Dylan. Poetically, Lamar was also the final guest on The Colbert Report.

September 14th will see the show featuring guests The Dead Weatherone of Jack White’s bands, who will soon be releasing their highly anticipated new album Dodge and Burn. (you can hear a bit of it now – if you have TIDAL.) It will be the band’s first live appearance in more than five years, and possibly the only one for a while – they have stated that they will not tour the new material.
White, who last released Lazaretto in 2014, also announced his own hiatus from touring this April. But he’s performed and worked with Colbert numerous times in the past, and has graciously made an exception for this one-off show.

But it doesn’t stop there. No, it only gets better. On September 16th, The Late Show stage will see not ONLY Run The Jewels but TV on the Radio – TOGETHER. In fact, TVOTR will act as RTJ’s live band in some kind of collaborative performance – which can only be like, the most amazing thing ever.

Considering the diversity and incredible talent of these four acts alone, it looks like we’ve got a pretty bloody amazing late night show to look forward to.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert will premiere on September the 8th.

It’s been a good start to the week for The Dead Weather fans. The Jack White-Allison Mosshart lead band this morning dropped the video for their song I Feel Love (Every Million Miles) and shared the track listing ahead of the release of their much anticipated third album, Dodge & Burn.

The video is chock full of superhero-movie-esque goodness, with cranes and wires flinging around. You can watch the entire thing via TIDAL, where it’s an exclusive. If you just want to hear the track though, it was played on BBC Radio by Annie Mack. You can listen to it here, as well as a short interview with Mosshart about the album and filming the clip.

Admittedly, it’s a shame that the album has such restrictive ties to dwindling streaming service TIDAL, but it’s to be expected, considering that Jack White has pretty high stakes in the Jay-Z owned premium service.

This will be the first official new release featuring Jack White since his wonderful sophomore solo album Lazaretto.

Dodge & Burn Track Listing:

1. I Feel Love (Every Million Miles)
2. Buzzkill(er)

5. Lose The Right
6. Rough Detective
7. Open Up
8. Be Still
9. Mile Markers
10. Cop and Go

It seems Jack White‘s musical hiatus may have come to an end, and we couldn’t be more excited. Having recently announced that an album from super group The Dead Weather is on the way titled Dodge & Burn, they’ve now announced when we can expect that bad boy and it’s very soon indeed.

Posting an image on the band’s Facebook page, Dead Weather fans can mark September 25 on their calendars as the day the band will break their five year silence. Being released by White’s own label, Third Man RecordsDodge & Burn will feature 12 songs including the previously released Buzzkill(er)Open Up (That’s Enough), and Rough Detective remixed and remastered.

Considering the band “spent their rare and sporadic free moments over the past year recording together in Nashville,” and have said “the thick and heavy Dodge & Burn will satisfy your urges for the dark magic that is The Dead Weather for a very long time,” this is going to be an agonising wait until September 25.

Jack White has most recently been in the news for his work with Jay-Z’s fledgling music streaming service Tidal. A number of artists have been releasing albums exclusively through the premium service, most recently Prince. There’s no word yet if The Dead Weather will fall under the same umbrella (ha) but let’s hope that they’re a little more liberal with this release; when we tested Tidal out, we didn’t really think it was worth the hefty $30 monthly fee.

Jack White-Allison Mosshart (The Kills) co-lead supergroup The Dead Weather have announced that they’ll be releasing their third album, Dodge & Burn, in September of this year. The band, which also features City and Colour/The Raconteurs bassist Jack Lawrence and Queens Of The Stone Age guitarist/backing vocalist Dean Fertita, are releasing the much anticipated follow-up to 2010’s Sea of Cowards via White’s label Third Man Records.

In a statement via the band’s Facebook page, the band wrote that they had been spending their rare and sporadic free time over the past year writing and recording together. These sessions have resulted in a bunch of new, unheard tracks which will feature on Dodge & Burn, along with four songs the band released as 7″ exclusives last year, which have been re-mastered for the album.

Super fans (hands up!) will be able to purchase the exclusive Vault Package, which includes a limited edition of the album pressed on “inclement weather vinyl” with an alternative cover featuring sand paper flames and a soft-touch sleeve and a deck of The Dead Weather playing cards. Still, despite the announcement, it looks as though White is set to continue his gigging hiatus, as the band have also stated that they won’t be supporting Doge & Burn with a tour, announcing via Facebook that “the thick and heavy Dodge & Burn will satisfy your urges for the dark magic that is The Dead Weather for a very long time.”
