The Dead Weather have released their latest video clip for Impossible Winner, the closing track on their 2015 album Dodge & Burn. The latest in a series of clips and short videos from the band, in lieu of a live tour with the album, Impossible Winner is suitably freakish and dark – as you would expect from the US band.
And by freakish, I mean quite literally. A grainy, black and white production, the video features the band members, and other strange characters, as captives on a what appears to be a rickety circus train. Under the eery swinging lights, Alison Mosshart writhes, legless, on a mound of dirt. Jack White and Jack Lawrence feature too many limbs and fingers between them, while Dean Fertita… plays piano. This all goes down under the watch of rough guards and in amongst a sad array of others, including a girl with a chelsea smile.
Directed by industry veterans Sophie Muller and Ross McDowell, the production is an impressive complement to The Dead Weather’s inimitable aesthetic. The video premiered exclusively on TIDAL today, and can be viewed here. It will also be made available via the band’s Vevo channel February 5th Eastern Time.
The lead up to the release of the clip for Impossible Winner has been marked by The Dead Weather with a series of eery trailers. Watch the selection below for a taster of what’s to come.
