Sending the internet into overdrive, ScHoolboy Q has today shared a snippet of some new music on Instagram. Groovy Q fans have been aching for new stuff since the release of his 2014 album, Oxymoron, and quite frankly patience was growing a little thin. However, now it looks like the wait may finally be nearly over.
Although it raises more questions than it answers, Q is sounding harder than ever in this snippet. Rapping about AKs over a monster beat, he fucks shit up in one of his toughest clips yet. The words “Groovy Tony” appear in the snippet as well, which could be the name of the song or even the album, but nothing at all has been confirmed.
The president of Top Dawg Entertainment, Dave Free, sparked fans’ interest last month when he said that 2016 would see the release of albums from Isaiah Rashad, SZA, Ab-Soul and ScHoolboy. Not long after that, we heard Smile; a brand new single from Rashad, and now it seems he is going to come through on his word regarding ScHoolboy Q as well. Considering the amount of collaborations Q has found himself in since the release of Oxymoron (including the particularly great Electric Body with A$AP Rocky and the Anderson .Paak collab, Am I Wrong), it will be interesting to see what he’s picked up over the last two years and what he’s going to set out to do this year. Let’s just hope the wait isn’t too much longer!
