It might have seemed like the month of May couldn’t get any better when it came to new music. Last week alone we have new Radiohead, James Blake, Skepta and Kaytranada albums drop, not to mention the surprise release of Beyoncé‘s Lemonade and the hype of Drake‘s Views… It’s almost too much! Now it seems two other artists want to get in on the May madness, with both Chance The Rapper and ScHoolBoy Q dropped fresh material just hours ago!
Okay, so Chance first. Having been teasing this on social media over the past couple of weeks, this one wasn’t exactly a surprise. However, given that he was recently admitted into hospital with pneumonia and had to cancel a charity gig appearance, you may be forgiven for thinking this might have been put on hold. Titled Coloring Book, it includes both the new, 2 Chainz featuring single he debuted on Zane Lowe‘s Beats 1 show earlier today titled No Problem, as well as Blessings, which he debuted on Fallon last week. It’s not yet available on streaming services (watch this space), but it is available for free on iTunes (although currently just in the US at the time of writing). Having also jumped on a campaign recently to get the Grammys to recognise free music, critics are already raving about how good Coloring Book is – so let’s hope the Grammys listen up and give Chance a… chance.
Now to ScHoolBoy Q. Having released his first single in a long time last month titled Groovy Tony, it was believed by that track that Groovy Q was back with a vengeance. Now, his next single featuring none other than Kanye West, that belief has been confirmed. THat Part goes hard. Going head to head with Yeezy, the pair bounce off each other while the beat bangs. It’s thick and hazy, kind of sluggish but keeps you on your toes. Streaming now exclusive to Apple Music, you can peep a preview below to see if it takes your fancy (spoiler alert: it will).
Sigh, the music industry never stops, does it?
