Glaswegian producer Rustie blew us away at the beginning of november, with the explosive surprise release of a glorious new album EVENIFUDONTBELIEVE. The release is his third full-length, following on from 2014’s Green Language and of course, his groundbreaking 2011 debut Glass Swords.
Rustie has just completed an AMA (Ask Me Anything) on Reddit, during which he kicked off the proceedings by premiering the video clip to First Mythz. First Mythz was also the first single released from the new record, and followed on from 160 Hospital Riddim, a track released while he was actually in hospital.
Put together by Daniel Swan, the video is a compilation of stock footage of nature and animals – dolphins, whales, sunrises, landscapes, fireworks, you get the idea. The clips are tied in with the rhythm, growing ever-more-frantic and fuzzy as the track races toward that climax. It’s a total sensory overload – pretty much the precise embodiment of the track itself.
Rustie last visited Australia at the beginning of 2015, where he performed at St Jerome’s Laneway Festival – fingers crossed he tours with the new material again soon!
