Flying Lotus - Performance

Red Bull Music Academy and Future Classic have your Laneway Festival sorted

Red Bull Music Academy and Future Classic are once again teaming up to bring you a selection of the best artists floating around St Jerome’s Laneway Festival.

The drawcard of the stage is Flying Lotus (otherwise known as Steve Ellison.) Considered something of a legend by thousands, FlyLo is known for his extremely experimental, mind warping sound. Ellison will be bringing us his ‘Layer 3’ show in which he plays in between two screens of enchanting animation. Even if it’s not typically your ‘thing,’ this is one set you absolutely cannot miss.

Backing up from FlyLo we have Rustie (showcasing his brand new live AV show), Seekae, and Jon Hopkins. Scottish producer Rustie had a huge 2014, nailing Attack with Danny Brown, not to mention featuring on three further songs on Brown’s album. Sydney trio Seekae is set to tear up their home court, headlining the stages homegrown talent. UK’s Jon Hopkins is ready to show us his immense talent of combining genres and will perform with a LIVE set up of Ableton and 5 Kross Pads.

Bringing us those hip-hop vibes are Vic Mensa, Ratking and Raury (Read our interview with Raury here!) All from the USA, these three acts are going to gives us tracks like Wimme Nah (prod. Kaytranada), Down On My Luck, So Sick Stories and God’s Whisper. So, be sure to have you pants round yo ankles.

Adding that extra bit of firepower is Tkay MaidzaSOHN, breakthrough sensation Masionair and homegrown Eves the Behaviour.

All in all, the Future Classic Stage has arguably the biggest line-up at St Jerome’s Laneway Festival and is the perfect place to get your boogie on!
