ScHoolboy Q Announces New Album For 2017 Release

Just months after the release of his phenomenal album Blank Face, Top Dawg Entertainment rapper ScHoolboy Q has told fans on social media that he’s gearing up for another album to come out in 2017.

It seems like a lot of momentum has been building up for the 30-year-old artist, who has been incredibly busy touring the world in support of his new album, as well as having released several incredible video clips, appeared on late night TV, and most recently been nominated for two Grammy awards.

Taking to Instagram, Q told his fans that although his tour is over, he’s hardly taking a break, jumping back into the studio to work on another record.

He also shared an image of his daughter, Joyce Hanley, who was voted MVP of her local soccer team. The proud dad boasted that he’ll be back in “soccer dad” mode while his new album is being finished, indicating that he has possibly been at work on it for some time already.

We shouldn’t get too excited just yet, however. Considering the controversy that has surrounded several TDE releases this year, most notably the apparent delays in SZA’s highly anticipated album which we presume to be titled A, we cannot and should not guarantee that there is any truth to this statement. Until we have an official announcement from TDE, getting carried away may well lead to disappointment, so keep your feelings in check.

That said, Kendrick Lamar did release two albums in two years, so it’s equally possible that TDE will follow the hype train by releasing a second Q album in as many years, especially considering how successful it’s been both commercially and critically.

Either way, fingers and toes are crossed for more ScHoolboy Q in the near future.
