Run The Jewels have had a really interesting year, from extensive Blade Runner-themed touring to lauded political endorsements, to cat albums and more. While we’re still a fair while away from Run The Jewels 3, we have tasted a few delicious slices of RTJ pie since Run The Jewels 2; on top of Meow The Jewels, both Killer Mike and El-P have featured on tracks by Until The Ribbon Breaks and Big Grams (Big Boi & Phantogram), released Record Store Day special Bust No Moves. The latest release from the duo is Rubble Kings Theme (Dynamite). It was initially released within the Adult Swim Singles, and will also feature on an upcoming documentary titled Rubble Kings. Created by RTJ’s label Mass Appeal, Rubble Kings is set to look at …..
The soundtrack was produced by Little Shalimar, and will also feature music from Ghostface Killah, Tunde Adebimpe (TV on the Radio), Mr. Muthafuckin’eXquire and more. Full tracklisting below.
Run The Jewels have now released an animated video clip to accompany the track. The video follows the dark, violent story between two rival gangs. The documentary’s director, Shan Nicholson, “oversaw” the animation. He explains, “This video was inspired by the Rubble Kings documentary and the works of the great Ralph Bakshi. The video depicts a story of street justice in the turbulent streets of the 1970’s South Bronx. We follow Little Nina, who’s violently attacked by a rival gang on her way home from her grandmother’s house. What follows is an all out rumble between her gang, the fictionalised ‘Rubble Kings’ and the ‘Javelins’. Run the Jewels alongside producer Little Shalimar provide the rugged soundtrack to the piece.”
Rubble Kings comes out January 15 2015.
