Odd Future ringleader Tyler, The Creator has just announced the details of his forthcoming solo album, and has shared the self-directed first video clip for the gratuitously titled single Fucking Young. The back-end of the clip also features another new single, the two-minute romp that is Death Camp
The album will be titled Cherry Bomb and is his first since 2013’s Wolf. Giving us very little time to prepare, he revealed that the album will be coming out on Monday April 13. The announcement comes only three weeks after the particularly rushed (and apparently unintentinally early) release of fellow Odd Future comrade Earl Sweatshirt‘s I Don’t Like Shit, I Don’t Go Outside.
Fucking Young is about a rapper who falls in love with a girl, who – you guessed it – is fucking young.
Look, I’ll be honest, I don’t really find any merit in a song about the deep temptations of statutory rape, but whatever.
Death Camp is better, as a song. It’s got a crunchy distorted guitar riff and a really aggressive flow, not to mention some particularly offensive lyrics. The pair already show a pretty vast level of diversity that we have to look forward to.
The video has been described as “Very Tyler, The Creator” – it’s a little absurd, a little funny and actually pretty cool. Check it out below.
Cherry Bomb comes out on Monday and is said to feature Kanye West and Lil Wayne among others.
