If you assumed that the incredible Melbourne Music Week and Triple J Unearthed parties were enough musical goodies to keep Melbourne entertained over the summer, you’d be very, very wrong. Melb-based labels Wondercore Island and Good Manners have just unveiled the stunning line-up for the band new collaborative Good Island Festival set to make its debut in early 2017, taking over four stages across both The Curtain and the Bella Union Bandroom in Melbourne.
Highlights of the line-up include Sydney electronic wizard Buoy, Marcus Whale, psych-blues machine Jaala, electronic maestro Planete, our favourite new soul group Billy Davis, the amazing Lucianblomkamp and plenty more. All in all it’s basically every single amazing non-mainstream Australian act around right now, and we can’t bloody wait.
Billed as a showcase for Australias “progressive live acts and visual talents,” the festival will see artists perform two sets, with one traditional performance much like any other local gig, and one experimental or collaborative set which will allow the artist to push the boundaries of creativity.
The festival is also geared towards artists with visual talent, so be sure to expect more than just musical boundaries to be pushed throughout the festival.
Good Island Festival will take place on Saturday, February 4, 2017. Tickets are on sale right now, and can be purchased here, starting at just $30.
