The legendary Pixies recently announced a new album, Head Carrier, and they’ve now announced a series of headline tour dates taking place across Australia in early 2017. Hooray!
The legendary band have visited Australia a few times of late, having last performed as part of Sydney’s Vivid Festival back in 2014. However, their last full tour was in 2010, during which they played 13 dates across the country.
Head Carrier, their second album since officially getting back together, is set for release on Friday September 30. Their world tour kicks off in November, and will bring them to Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney in March 2017. As well as Black Francis, drummer David Lovering and guitarist Joey Santiago, Paz Lenchantin, who has been their touring bassist for some time now, will be on board as an official member of the band.
Two tracks have been released from the new album, both signalling a gloriously brash punk sound, leaving us incredibly excited for the full release. Listen to first single Um Chagga Lagga here and the recent Talent below:
Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday September 2 (details here), but Telstra Thanks are holding a 48 hour pre-sale from 11am on Tuesday August 30 – details on that can be found here.
