By far the biggest name in the ever-growing world of grime, Skepta‘s album Konnichiwa is finally here.
Earlier this morning, Skepta live-streamed his album launch from Tokyo, Japan, and now the full album is available for the world. The twelve track release, which includes hits like Shutdown, That’s Not Me, Ladies Hit Squad and the most recent Man, features a who’s-who of grime artists including Novelist, Wiley, D Double E, J-Me and BBK, with additional contributions from Pharrell Williams and A$AP Nast.

Interestingly, there is no Drake. Konnichiwa has dropped just one week after Drake’s ridiculously successful Views. Skepta did not feature on Drake’s album, so many thought the collaboration would come today. Alas, it was not to be. Personally, this makes me think that there’s a high chance they’ll either be announcing a joint tour, or releasing a fully-collaborative WATTBA-esque mixtape or EP soon, and that we’ll likely have no warning before it does. Considering their long-brewing bromance, their joint crashing of a Section Boyz show earlier this year and the announcements that each had ‘signed’ to each other’s labels, it not only makes sense, it feels inevitable.
