PREMIERE: Ben Thompsøn Shares New EP “The Gateway II”

Ben Thompsøn is a 19-year-old from Portland, Maine, but makes music with a global sound and a finesse that is well beyond his years. With an ambitious collection of releases and production works already behind him, Thompsøn carves a space out on his own away from the fray – and he has solidified his presence with his latest EP, The Gateway II – and we have the first listen right here for you.

The second in his Gateway EP series, Thompsøn shows off just how much he has going on here. Across four tracks, his sound spans a multitude of genres, borrowing influence from ambient, dance, hip-hop, RnB, and even indie music. From the chilling opener Moments [I.P.O] (Introductory Peace Offering), to the future-beat sounds of Cup of Coffee, the industrial and hard hitting Jungle featuring Lord Apex and the fantastic hazy closer of Candles (You), Ben Thompsøn makes it known he is a serious contender in the production game with this EP.

The Gateway II comes after a slew of EPs produced by Thompsøn, including two EPs made in collaboration with his sister, Libby Thompson (h(E)l(P) and So Far Gone: The Mixtape) as well as two albums. Clearly the kid’s caught the music bug in a big way, which explains his seamless ability to chop and change up songs with ease, making them all flow together so nicely you can’t help but close your eyes and listen. We are expecting huge things to come from Ben Thompsøn in the future, and we can’t wait until he proves us right! Keep up to date with him here, here and here.
