Andrew W.K.’s Political Party Is the Real Deal

Professional party man Andrew W.K. is an outspoken advocate of partying. If singles like Party Hard and We Want Fun weren’t testament enough, he has even developed a custom-made pizza guitar (the most genuine of all party foods). But the entertainer and motivational speaker has run into a spot of strife.

While many considered Andrew’s viral April Fools announcement of the formation of a “Party Party” was little more than a jest, it turns out the movement is genuine. Premised with sending a message to the two party system which dominates the US political landscape, the Party Party claims to stand up for the interests of everyday Americans. In a statement released yesterday, Andrew assured voters his Party Party “is absolutely real”.

“For a long time now, I’ve pondered the possibility of somehow getting involved in governmental politics, but I wanted to find a way to participate without compromising my celebratory philosophy, or getting sucked into a whirlpool of traditional political career ambitions,” he wrote. “I wanted to stay true to my vision of unifying joy, and still contribute something of value to the often distressing political landscape.”

“Could we participate in politics and at the same time transcend it? Could we address the fundamental aspects of our shared national experience without engaging in endless dissonance and conflict? Could we work towards the liberation of the human spirit without succumbing to the temptations of an “us versus them” mentality?” the lengthy statement continued.

Despite his initial claims that the party was only a few signatures away from official qualification, it looks like there is still a way to go. The more recent statement revealed that Andrew is still working to obtain official recognition from the US State Department. Regardless, Andrew remains adamant that the cause will move forward. “Even if the State Department ultimately rejects our application, or if we aren’t given full access to the halls of government by the political powers that be, I remain absolutely confident that The Party Party will keep growing, and keep partying,” he asserted.

Whether Andrew’s Party Party will build enough momentum to succeed remains to be seen.
