It’s been a minute since we heard from Lana Del Rey. Last year she released one of the best albums of 2015 with Honeymoon, but it seems she vanished in the midst of the post-album hype. Now, she has finally returned with the long-awaited video for Freak.
Slow and seductive, heavily romantic and just a little bit hypnotic, Freak is one of the standout records on Honeymoon– so it’s only fitting that it gets an extra special video. Featuring none other than Father John Misty as our leading male, Del Rey has delivered just that with this clip.
Spellbinding, magical and powerful, this is definitely one of Lana’s best clips. It’s a blissful, loved-up trip that is befitting both of Lana’s penchant for the romantic, and FJM’s knack for the slightly weird. It’s 11 minutes long, but a glorious 11 minutes at that. Starting off with a casual bush walk, our leading couple sit down to enjoy some refreshing Kool-Aid… and acid. From there, it gets ridiculous, but incredible. I don’t want to spoil anything, but hold out for the second half when things get really awesome and Debussy‘s Clair De Lune kicks in. See for yourself below:
