King Louie, a prominent Chicago based rapper has been shot and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Centre.
The Chi-town rapper was a victim of a reverse drive-by on Wednesday, 23rd of December at around 3:30 p.m, as reported by The Chicago Sun-Times and confirmed by both the Chicago Police Department and Louie’s management team.
King Louie, whose real name is Louis Johnson Jr. – was sitting in his vehicle when he was approached by the assailant on foot and shot in the head. Using what can only be described as “rapper-magic”, the bullet merely grazed King Louie’s head and after being taken to the aforementioned hospital he is stable, awake and talking.
It has been a busy year for the rapper, releasing the album, Drilluminati 3: God of Drill along with the 6 God Tony mixtape. King Louie, who has been a pioneer in the hip-hop sub-genre, ‘drill music’, which originated in Chicago’s impoverished south and west sides, has also been recognised by the Grammys, having been nominated for his work on Kanye West’s track New Slaves.
Hours before the shooting, the rapper posted a photo on his Instagram account, standing in front of presumably his Christmas tree with his three kids. Surely we can all agree that attempting to murder a father of three, days before Christmas is some punk-ass shit and I for one legitimately hope that the attempted murderer gets got (by the proper authorities), and King Louie makes a full recovery, allowing his kids to not be traumatised before Christmas day.
