For the second year in a row, hip-hop royalty Snoop Dogg has helped the Mayor of Inglewood, James Butts, hand out more than 1500 turkeys ahead of Thanksgiving.
Said to have joined the mayor last Thursday for the annual giveaway, The Doggfather himself not only handed out birds to those in need, but also posed with “hundreds” of fans who wanted to grab a photo with the rapper as well. Just last year, Snoop asked the mayor what he could do to give back to the community, as his production crew’s headquarters are there. The Mayor, obviously stoked that the one and only S-N-Double O-P D-O-Double G wanted to help out, suggested the turkey handout and thus, history was made.
Butts told NBC of the event that Snoop took photos with “over 800 people” and that there was a “tented area for seniors to sit in, and the first thing he did was go over to take pictures with everyone there.” See, miracles can happen!
Snoop Dogg, though late to the event, also gave a speech (which TMZ has shared today) expressing his love and gratitude for the Inglewood community. He said to the crowd, “Inglewood, y’all know I love y’all. This is my second home. Inglewood has been good to me from day one and that’s why I love Inglewood. I just want to let y’all know that I’mma be doing this every year. Sorry I’m late but we are going to make up for it by giving away some big fat turkeys so you can get your eat on this Thanksgiving.”
