Comedy-actor-turned-rapper Donald Glover, aka Childish Gambino, is reportedly working on his new album. Over the course of a series of tweets, which have now been deleted, we learnt a little about the forthcoming album. Volcalist Aaron Michael Gutierrez revealed that he was a part of 50 vocalists who were working on the album together. They’ll be featured on a total of five tracks on the new album.
As discovered by Reddit’s /r/hiphopheads, a number of other people involved on the day (presumably more of the 50 vocalists) tweeted out similar news. It’s all since been deleted -most likely a little quick damage control from the Gambino camp. Some quick-clicking folks managed to grab a couple screenshots, though.
It’s been around two years since Childish Gambino’s Grammy-nominated Because The Internet came out, a follow-up to the brilliant 2011 debut Camp. He released a combines mixtape/EP STN MTN/Kauai last year, and now we’re pretty keen to hear new tunes.
While we sometimes see more of Childish Gambino singing than rapping, here’s hoping he’ll flex his lyrical muscles more on the next release. Check out this epic clip of him freestyling live at Peakness Festival last month:
