Perth’s Coin Banks is breath of a fresh air in Australian hip hop.

If there’s one thing we love at Howl & Echoes, it’s hip hop. And when it’s not only Australian, but really, really good, it just makes us go all warm and tingly inside.

If you aren’t yet familiar with Perth’s Coin Banks, let’s change that right now. The Perth artist released an EP, Tails, to critical acclaim. The follow-up to his previous release Heads, it’s become really clear that we’ve got a bright new star in the Aus hip hop scene, and it’s really time to start taking notice. He’s already supported Cypress Hill and will soon be heading out on tour with 360 and Seth Sentry, so you’ll have plenty of chances to catch him live.

Anyway, Coin Banks has just released a great new video clip for Highs and Lows. According to the artist, the track is based on “the simple idea that you can’t have the good without the bad. It’s the tough times that make us appreciate the good times. There are so many things in our lives that we take for granted, and we only start realise how special they are once we no longer have them”.
