In the lead-up to the group’s projected 2017 album, iconic 90s R&B group TLC have announced a return to Australia, as well as their first ever New Zealand tour dates. Joined by fellow 90s icon, the man behind the huge 1995 jam This Is How We Do It Montell Jordan on select dates, the duo of Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas will hit New Zealand’s north island first, heading to Wellington & Tauranga, before hitting Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne, before returning to New Zealand for a final show in Auckland.
TLC had essentially been on hiatus for the 14 years since the tragic death of Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, following the release of their third studio album 3D. But after raising a whopping $430,000 through a Kickstarter campaign last year, the duo announced plans for one final album – simply for the fans. “This is dedicated to all of you that have stuck with us, always challenging us to do our best. And, of course, it’s for the new fans too! We just want to put out great music that touches everyone. That’s it.”
Whether or not the pair will perform new music on their tour dates is currently unconfirmed, but perhaps we can look forward to a new single or two ahead of the tour this November.
