GIBSON

Want To Buy The Very First Sunburst Gibson Les Paul?

Calling all music vintage enthusiasts, there is a new guitar up for sale that will make you weak at the knees.

A report from Mixdown has revealed that the first ever sunburst Gibson Les Paul guitar is now for sale. And it’ll only cost you a cool half milli.

The guitar was acquired by Carter Vintage Guitars, where former Gibson historian Walter Carter made the deduction that this was the original model.

The serial number ‘8 3087′ was the  tell-tale sign that this was no ordinary guitar, with the original owner apparently buying it for his son back in 1958.

It  has been estimated that the guitar would have originally sold for around $350,  but is now valued around the $625,000 mark.

With a profit of well over $624,000, it’s safe to say that the original owners are probably more than happy to part with the family heirloom.

The sunburst model has become a signature of the Gibson brand, with some of the most legendary musicians in history, including Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Keither Richards, Santana, John McLaughlin, Mark Knopfler  and Mick Taylor.

The incredible item isn’t the piece of musical history doing the rounds on the market, with Frank Zappa’s entire estate currently up for sale for a cool $9 million.

Any takers?
