A Slipknot tour is similar to Melbourne Cup or Grand Final Day in the heavy community: regardless of if you like them or not, you shut up shop to be there.
So while the announcement of the support act for the 9-piece’s latest visit may not impact the legions of fans already heading to the event, it can give one hell of an incentive to snap up the last few seats available.
The announcement of Lamb of God as the band’s stage partners for the entirety of the tour is sure to do just that, with the Virginian new-wave pioneers confirmed for all Australian shows. It is also certainly welcome news for loyal fans even though the last time LOG made it to our shores was for a series of crushing performances on the 2015 Soundwave bill.
Having not visited the country since, the tour will give Australian fans their first chance to hear material from their latest album VII: Sturm und Drang in the live setting.
Known for their violent live performances, Lamb of God have remained at the forefront of contemporary metal for the last 15 years, with their Ashes of the Wake and Sacrament albums considered staples of the genre.
If that isn’t enough for the hardened maggots, the bands are renowned for some of the biggest circle pits and walls of death on the live circuit, fitting in beautifully with the Slipknot aesthetic.
Coupled with a road hardened and angry-as ever Slipknot, it’s safe to say that this tour is going to be absolutely mind-blowing.
With TWO of the world’s premier metal bands in the form of your lives, if you haven’t got yourself a ticket you need to ask yourself “why?”
