Sydney rock and roll royalty Philadelphia Grand Jury are one of those bands who just feel like they’ve been around forever even though it’s been less than a decade. In that time, the trio of Berkfinger, MC Bad Genius and Dan W. Sweat have had a rollercoaster career, enduring ups and downs and a two-year hiatus before bursting back onto the scene in 2013 with aspirations renewed and with the arms of their fans at peak Creed-level wide open for more Philly Jays material.
They did not disappoint, releasing their long-awaited second album and follow-up to their breakthrough Hope Is For Hopers with the outstanding Summer Of Doom in October of last year and this week the boys have announced that they’re about to embark on one of the most ambitious and unique tours this country has ever seen.
It’s the ‘So You Think You Can Philly Jays’ tour, a one-of-a-kind experience where Philadelphia Grand Jury will be creating their own karaoke bars and inviting their luckiest of fans in attendance up on stage (!) to have a red hot crack at some of their favourite Philly Jays tunes along with the band (as well as what the band have hinted as some ‘karaoke classics’ in the mix as well).
If you’ve ever been to a Philadelphia Grand Jury show before, you’ll know they have a penchant for involving the crowd, but karaoke with the Philly Jays takes crowd interaction to another level. No word yet as to who will be sharing the stage with the coveted support slot, or whether there will be any celebrity judges getting involved or if there will be a finals series based on text vote, but if you’re a fan of Philadelphia Grand Jury you should be nigh on ruining your underwear at the very thought of potentially being invited onstage to belt one out with them.
Tickets for this beautiful event are on sale now at www.philadelphiagrandjury.com.au
