There is a lot of new music coming out every day. In particular, there’s a lot of electronic and electro-pop coming out every day. Like, a lot.
So when something comes out and it’s really, really good, well, it makes us really excited. And today, we’re excited about Mossy.
Otherwise known as Jamie Timony, Mossy has just released his first single Electric Chair, ahead of a debut EP out later this year. The Sydney-based actor and musician has reportedly been working on Mossy for some time – including recording (and sleeping) in a basement studio in New York, and even calling on Beyonce and Jay-Z engineer Stuart White to put finishing touches on the record.
The track is really gorgeous, everything about it. From the stunning, sweeping melody, equally freeing and soulful, to the theatrically hyperbolised soundscape, to the glammy blend of guitars and electronic layers.
The video, meanwhile, was directed by Kris Moyes and depicts the infamous mythological tale of Narcissus and Echo. Watch below:
I adore this track, and I’m really looking forward to hearing the full eponymous EP, set for release on May 13 via I OH YOU. Head here to pre-order.
