The D.O.C will be hitting Australian shores next week

Initially a member of Fila Fresh Crew, Dallas hip-hop artist The D.O.C. (born Tracy Curry) is best known for his collaborations with gangster rap powerhouse N.W.A.

Spurred on by the runaway success of N.W.A., Curry’s fame was reaching phenomenal peaks by 1989. But the Texan artist’s newfound success proved fleeting when, five months following Dr. Dre produced solo debut No One Can Do It Better, Curry sustained serious vocal injuries as a result of a near-death motor accident. With his vocal chords permanently damaged Curry and remained largely out of the public eye until 1997. But that isn’t to say the rapper wasn’t busy pulling strings behind the scenes. Continuing to guide the trajectory of rap culture Curry contributed to a number of seminal hip hop albums including Snoop Dogg‘s Doggystyle and Dr Dre’s The Chronic.

With over 30 years of experience under his belt the U.S. rapper is now looking to share his wealth of knowledge and experience with a newer generation artists embarking on a worldwide ‘speaking tour.’ He will be visiting four cities

Accompanied by former Death Row Records CEO John Payne, Curry will discuss his life story, reflect on his tumultuous career as well as offering aspiring musicians a few pearls of songwriting and production wisdom when he hits Australian shores this November.

Both inside the studio and within the aggressive world of 90s hip hop this East Coast rapper’s insights will no doubt be invaluable for fans and aspiring musicians.
