Nicki Minaj Announces Biographic ABC Comedy Series

The world desperately needs more reality television. I know that many people won’t necessarily agree with that statement, but there are just so many people’s lives that deserve to be explored and put on the screen. Nicki Minaj is one of those people – and thank Christ, it’s happening.

Announced by ABC Family, Nicki will be producing and appearing in what is meant to be a comedy based on her life. Technically it isn’t reality television, as the series is set to explore her past – Nicki’s family’s immigration from Trinidad to the U.S, her growing up in Queens and her relationship with music. Comedy veteran Kate Angelo (think Will and Grace and Bernie Mac Show) has written the pilot and is on board for the rest of the season. It’s apparently been in the works for over a year already, and should start filming on location in Queens in the next few months.

It could be wishful thinking, but there’s real hope for something of the same quality as something like My Name is Chris – Chris Rock’s biographical comedy which did this kind of comedy so perfectly. Either way, it should be a really entertaining watch. Nicki’s no newbie in front of the camera, even voicing a mammoth in Ice Age 3, so we know there’s going to be some quality to the show.

I am now launching a nation wide search to find #YoungNicki 😊😍💘
