One of my absolute favourite album of last year was Todd Terje‘s It’s Album Time, his first full length record. With a record as critically acclaimed as this one, and this being the age where if you like a song a lot, you pay tribute to it by remixing it, it’s no wonder at all that more than a few Terje remixes have popped up on the interwebs. Terje must have noticed too, because he’s gone and made an official EP collection, aptly titled It’s It’s Remix Time Time. Featuring two remixes from Pepe Bradock on side A, and reworks by Joakim and Eric Duncan on side B, the EP will be officially released on June 15 via Todd Terje’s own Olsen Records. Along with this announcement, the label (presumably Todd himself) had this to say:
“Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages, Olsen proudly invites you to the world premiere of ‘It’s “It’s Remix Time” Time’
Boasting a star-studded cast from all over the globe, including Pepe Bradock, Joakim, Eric Duncan and of course Tangoterje as Mr Mambo, this latest Olsen blockbuster is sure to soar to the top of the charts and the depths of your hearts, leaving you excited and delighted after a breathless half hour of fun. The A-side opens in the Parisian backstreets where Pepe Bradock hands us a speedball of narcotic house via disorienting mixes of ‘Inspector Norse’ and ‘Swing Star’. Both interpretations bump, bleep and come on stronger than a tripped out cheese dream.
For the flipside we relocate to the Big Apple for a night on the tiles with Joakim and Dr Dunks. The Parisian ex-pat embraces his inner diva with a jacking ballroom house rework of ‘Strandbar’ complete with bright vamps and deep bass impact. On the B2, Eric Duncan delivers the grande finale in true blockbuster fashion, hitting the special FX budget harder than late career Michael Bay while the ‘Strandbar’ piano and bassline loop into infinity and beyond.
So from ‘What’s up doc (Dr Dunks that is) to ‘That’s All Folks’, be sure to catch our hero Terje in the next Olsen spectacular!”
