Here at Howl & Echoes, we’re pretty massive Thundercat fans. Not only has the virtuosic bass player recently released a stunning original mini-album (The Beyond/Where The Giants Roam) under Flying Lotus‘ consistently excellent imprint Brainfeeder, but he was a major player in the creation of Kendrick Lamar’s brilliant To Pimp A Butterfly, and has recorded with Erykah Badu, Kamasi Washington, FlyLo himself and plenty more – including, most interestingly, thrash legends Suicidal Tendencies. Didn’t expect that now did you!
It goes without saying that we were over the moon when recent news surfaced of Thundercat’s impending visit to our fair shores, to perform at the 2016 edition of Laneway Festival – and now, he’s announced a pair of headline sideshows for those who can’t make the event. Hooray!
Thundercat’s most recent release is the unbelievably cool collab with Flying Lotus, Shabazz Palaces and the one and only funk master George Clinton, as part of the Adult Swim Single Series. Listen to The Lavishments of Light Looking:
Wed Feb 10th Feb 2016 – Max Watts, Sydney
w/ Sampa The Great
Thu Feb 11th 2016 – Max Watts, Melbourne
w/ Silent Jay (Live)
Thundercat will also be appearing at Laneway Festival, alongside Battles, Flume and plenty more!
