Thundercat to release FlyLo co-produced mini album!

Ladies and gentlemen, this is some pretty special news. Thundercat, real name Stephen Bruner, is releasing a mini album featuring his first solo music in two years.

Most people probably know Thundercat for his phenomenal work on Kendrick Lamar‘s unbelievable 2015 release To Pimp A Butterfly (which we reviewed here). For the most part, Bruner was the mastermind behind the incredible jazz-hip hop fusion which helped to create such a musically dense and interesting sound throughout the record, showing off his virtuosic bass talents and so much more. He’s also worked with Flying Lotus, Kamasi Washington and Erykah Badu, among others, but now he’s turning his attention inwards. The Beyond/Where The Giants Roam follows on from 2013’s Apocalypseand will feature six (undoubtedly brilliant) tracks. FlyLo and Washington will both feature, alongside the legendary and incredibly influential jazz artist Herbie Hancock.

The Beyond / Where The Giants Roam is out on Monday June 22, on FlyLo’s Brainfeeder label, via Inertia.
