MYAMI Take Me single artwork

PREMIERE: MYAMI, “Take Me”

Sometimes a track creeps under your skin so quickly and so intensely that you’re not quite sure what hit you, but you’re totally okay with that. Today we’re premiering a new single and accompanying video from Melbourne artist MYAMI.

Take Me was produced by Wayfarer, and I can personally guarantee that it’s emotional enough to melt even the iciest of hearts. MYAMI’s vocals are soft and deeply intimate, immediately floating into your very core. Her voice and her lyrics hide behind no veil whatsoever, backed by a simple rhythm, soft harmonies and distant synths. The moving video is a perfect accompaniment, predominantly featuring the artist singing directly to the camera, backed by a series of animations and beautifully coloured backdrops.
Of the song, MYAMI has explained that Take Me looks at fear, honesty and vulnerability, and listening to the song – both lyrics and melody – you can feel that push through in a remarkable manner. In her own words, the track is “about that numb, mind racing feeling that comes when faced with confrontations that you don’t know how to deal with.”

The Melbourne artist first came to attention last year, with the release of her debut single Soldier. While both tracks are beautiful, Take Me immediately feels more reverent and mature than its predecessor. It’s interesting to hear that kind of progression, and I’m really looking forward to what will come next from MYAMI.
