New York based electronic group Young Magic are set to bring their unique sound to Australia in support of their latest LP, Breathing Statues! If you’re not familiar with them yet, that won’t be the case for very long. Their blend of electronic and hip hop (and everything in between) continues to break boundaries and genres in two leaving behind what could be a mess if it wasn’t at the hand of these obviously talented beatmakers!
Practically unclassifiable, Young Magic have already received nods from NME, Pitchfork and many more following the release of Breathing Statues. They initially made a name for themselves after 2012’s Melt, but this current release is a whole new level. Weaving in and out of genres, with sublime vocals and ridiculously good production, it’s no surprise Young Magic have already supported the likes of Purity Ring and Youth Lagoon. Now, they’re bringing their eccelectic music to us, with a string of shows in intimate settings as well as a slot at Strawberry Fields!
As if this wasn’t enough, they’ve also taken to Australia’s own Oscar Key Sung by remixing his standout track, Holograms. Roland Tings has also jumped on board by remixing Something In The Water.
You can catch them around the country in late November, before they take over the world.*
*my prediction… But seriously, they will.
