Brisbane venue The Foundry had a bit of a rocky start earlier this year, and was forced to shut it’s doors due to unforeseen circumstances. What we did see of it had us extremely excited indeed, which is why we are heading that way again with the news that it will be returning to shake things up in the Brisbane music scene at the end of this month!

On August 22nd, The Foundry will once again welcome punters with one hell of a “We’re Baaaaack!” party. Although they had a launch party for the initial launch with performances by VelociraptorSpodWhite Lodge and more, this time around they’re getting even more hectic.

Taking Dune RatsPalmsOrphans Orphans and Major Leagues along for the ride, it looks as if the Re-launch Party could maybe out-do it’s predecessor. With all four of those acts having a pretty huge time right now, not only does this lineup show that The Foundry folk still have their finger on the pulse, they also know how to have a fucking good time. Whilst the Dunies and Major Leagues will be rocking it upstairs, Palms and Orphans Orphans will be melting faces in the new downstairs part.

That’s right! Going from one live music room to two, the final most exciting addition to The Foundry 2.0 is Foundry Records: a record shop/bar/cafe with a small stage inside. The now three level, 300 capacity venue is revolutionising Australian music venues. Considering it was “built by musicians”, they’ve taken everything into account. Housing three shared meeting rooms, two rehearsal rooms, one recording studio, band accommodation, and offices that now belong to some of Brisbane’s finest in the music industry (from record labels, bands, event organisers and more), this really is a new creative hub that is the first of it’s kind in the River City. It literally cannot get better than this!

Tickets have been limited to 100 for the public, and they’re already on sale. Take this writer’s word for it and get on the remaining few ASAP! This is not a night to miss!

We touched on how excited we were for the opening of one of the biggest additions to the Brisbane music scene recently, but now we have even more reason to be! The kind folks at The Foundry have been busy readying themselves and their new venue, putting in the hard yards to make it the best it can possibly be – and are rewarding themselves and punters with one hell of a party to kick things off!

Locking in notorious party starters Velociraptor, as well as Sydney’s SPOD and White Lodge, this coming Friday promises to be a pretty wild night indeed!

To celebrate, we have joined forces to give one lucky person a double pass to the party! All you have to do is:
1) ‘Like’ us on Facebook
2) Email giveaways@howlandechoes.com with your name and “The Foundry” in the subject line! Make sure to do this by 5pm this Wednesday, 4th March!

Get in QUICK!

The Brisbane music scene continues to go from strength to strength lately. From a string of warehouse parties in Bowen Hills and Albion, boutique festivals like Jungle Love or The Blurst of Times, and new venues popping up bringing something new to the mix like The Brightside or The Triffid as well as old favourites (The ZooThe Hifi) – it seems more and more people are starting to notice what we’ve got here!

Punters also seem to have a new found appreciation for the live scene, and often are spoiled for choice for who to go and see that night. Whilst it’s never received the same recognition as our cousins in New South Wales and Victoria have, the Brisbane music scene is positively thriving!

Now, with the imminent opening of new venue The Foundry, things are about to get even better! Officially opening it’s doors on March 6, The Foundry is a two story creative hub: downstairs is a 300-capacity performance space, with all the drinking and smoking areas you could hope for, and upstairs will turn into offices, temporary band accommodation, a recording studio and rehearsal space!

To celebrate the opening of such an awesome concept, they are throwing one hell of a party on the official opening night. Locking down Brisbane’s Velociraptor (member Corey Herekihua is one of the key managers of the venue), as well as SPOD and White Lodge, things will certainly be kicking off with more than a bang!

In the coming month, WAAXBabaganoujDay Ravies, HartsRolls BayceHound and Oslow will also take to The Foundry stage, adding serious competition to Brisbane’s already booming Friday and Saturday night gig scenes!
