Words by Manick Bhan
Since its announcement, fans have been eager to see more from the upcoming Suicide Squad movie. Will it be a better DC Comics film than the much-maligned Batman vs. Superman: Dawn Of Justice? Will Jared Leto’s Joker stack up against previous all-time portrayals by Heath Ledger and Jack Nicholson? How much is Will Smith’s presence going to ruin this movie? Well, even if Suicide Squad utterly bombs on the big screen, the freshly-released details of its soundtrack mean the blockbuster will at least sound killer.
One big collaboration confirmed by the tracklist release is EDM heavyweight Skrillex confirmed to be collaborating with the big bo$$ Rick Ross to produce a song for the Suicide Squad soundtrack. This confirms a rumour going as far back as April, fans having been dissecting any shred of information ever since Rick Ross’ appearance in Atlantic City where he was apparently heard to say the words “suicide squad” and “purple Lamborghini.”

Indeed, the Skrillex-Rick Ross collaboration is named Purple Lamborghini and will likely be the supervillain movie’s main theme. While the details are now confirmed, we won’t be able to actually listen to the final soundtrack until the movie’s much-anticipated release on August 5th.
The soundtrack is a mix of new songs, Purple Lamborghini featuring alongside original tracks from the likes of Panic! At The Disco, Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa, Imagine Dragons, Twenty One Pilots, and Action Bronson as well as classic tracks like Creedence Clearwater Revival’s anthemic Fortunate Son and Eminem’s Without Me.
With so many stars attached and such a good story to tell, with what now looks to be a soundtrack for the ages, it’s difficult to imagine Suicide Squad performing poorly. We’ll have to wait and see.
The final Suicide Squad tracklist is as follows:
1. Purple Lamborghini – Skrillex & Rick Ross
2. Sucker For Pain – Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa & Imagine Dragons (with Logic, Ty Dolla $ign & X Ambassadors)
3. Heathens – Twenty One Pilots
4. Standing In The Rain – Action Bronson & Dan Auerbach (of The Black Keys) (ft. Mark Ronson)
5. Gangsta – Kehlani
6. Know Better – Kevin Gates
7. You Don’t Own Me – Grace (ft. G-Eazy)
8. Without Me – Eminem
9. Wreak Havoc – Skylar Grey
10. Medieval Warfare – Grimes
11. Bohemian Rhapsody – Panic! At The Disco
12. Slippin’ Into Darkness – War
13. Fortunate Son – Creedence Clearwater Revival
14. I Started A Joke– ConfidentialMX (feat. Becky Hanson)

Pause for a moment, so that you might consider an imaginative thought conjuring up the genre of hip-hop as a particularly delicious dish. Though you’ve been stuck at work and haven’t had a chance to eat it yet, it sits by its lonesome in the fridge. And what, may I ask, is the only way to ensure the continued goodness of this scrumptious offering as it continues its lonely existence in the refrigerator? Wrap, and not just any wrap – but the RAP WRAP.
It’s like Cling Wrap, but more specific and interesting, featuring names such as Juicy J, Rick Ross, Towkio, Your Old Droog and FAT TREL, amongst others. Enjoy your dish, ladies and gentleman. Eat well and be merry.
Juicy J, No English (ft. Travi$ Scott)
Juicy J and the hot hand of Travi$ Scott collide for this club-friendly banger, with TM88 handling the production for this latest single sure to grab plenty of attention, and shake a great many speakers in months (years?) to come. Coming perfectly in time for the beginning of the weekend, this is one track to add to any party’s playlist.

Rick Ross drops a hip-hop ode *ruggh* to sharing the same women as fellow celebrities and rich men *ruugh*, such as Chris Brown, Justin Bieber, Snoop Dogg and Pusha T, amongst so many *ruugh* others. Overshadowed by the bass *ruugh* somewhat, the beat alone makes the song worth *ruugh* listening to, if the enjoyment of judging the MMG label boss *ruugh* isn’t joy enough.
Towkio, Playin Fair (ft. Joey Purp)
[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/269426750″ params=”color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=’166′ iframe=”true” /]
Preparing a new EP for release next week, as well as working on upcoming album World Wide .Wav with mastermind producer Rick Rubin, SAVEMONEY affiliate Towkio combines with fellow crew member Joey Purp for Playin’ Fair, a hyped anthem track showcasing the musical abilities of both young men. Taken from the upcoming EP release, Towkio further shows himself as one to watch for the future.
Your Old Droog, White Rappers

Working on a new album, titled PACKS, for release later this year, Your Old Droog drops a smooth offering sure to appeal to fans of ‘classic’ hip-hops. Perhaps most particularly, Your Old Droog will perpetually appeal to all Nas fans considering how uncannily their voices sound similar. Nonetheless, Your Old Droog remains one of the freshest talents to emerge in recent years, and White Rappers is a sincerely enjoyable track to affirm that fact.
Blended Babies, Charlene (ft. Ricky Hil & FAT TREL)

Dropping their latest EP, 6, on Soundcloud today, Blended Babies conjure up this solid, listenable track featuring dual talents FAT TREL and Ricky Hil, aka the son of renowned fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger. The perfect track with which to end the day (whilst possibly utilising a certain green substance of questionable legality, perhaps), Charlene is a great way to end the week.

Rick Ross has been officially indicted for an incident which happened in June last year, where he was accused of pistol-whipping his now former groundskeeper, Jonathan Zamudio.
According to TMZ, Ross discovered that Mr Zamudio was using a guesthouse belonging to the rapper, to allegedly throw parties which involved cocaine and other drugs. Accompanied by his bodyguard, Nadrian James, Rick Ross then allegedly led Mr Zamudio into the guesthouse at gunpoint, before questioning him about the parties and pistol-whipping him several times while preventing him from leaving.
After being arrested for the incident, Ross was released on a $2 million bond, and now, it seems that a grand jury has gathered enough evidence to formally charge the rapper. He is facing nine charges which include kidnapping, aggravated battery, aggravated assault, and the possession of a firearm during commission of a felony.
Ross’s attorney, Steve Sadow, is putting in a plea of self-defence, arguing that the rapper should be immune from prosecution because of the state of Georgia’s laws regarding self-defence. Mr Sadow claims that because the accused groundskeeper was allegedly committing felonies on the rapper’s property, he was well within his rights to act in the manner that he did, suggesting that the rapper was, “acting in self-defence and in defence of his property when he encountered trespassers.”
Even though the initial warrants, as reported by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, indicate that Ross pistol-whipped the groundskeeper so hard that the he chipped his teeth and Mr Zamudio’s jaw was injured so badly that he was, “restricted to soft foods and liquid diet,” it is entirely possible that the state of Georgia will side with Ross, as long as he can prove that the cocaine-fuelled parties were indeed happening on his property.

The perpetual beef between 50 Cent and Rick Ross continues, with the rapper suing Rick Ross over using the song In Da Club on the Renzel Remixes mixtape.
According to TMZ, the lawsuit claims that not only did Rick Ross use one of his most popular songs without the rapper’s permission, but that he also used it to drum up publicity for his recently released album Black Market.
The beef between Rick Ross and 50 Cent has been alive since the 2009 BET awards, where 50 Cent allegedly looked at Rick Ross wrong, since then it has continued in the form of multiple diss tracks, derogatory cartoons, and lawsuits.
[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P27nrTFyyT0]
Earlier in the year, the beef appeared to have been squashed after 50 cent leaked a sex tape of Rick Ross’s baby mama, Lavonia Leviston, was sued by her immediately afterwards and had the jury award her $5 million in damages, forcing the rapper to file for bankruptcy to protect his assets.
It could be that this particular lawsuit by 50 Cent is potentially just a shot taken in retaliation over the lawsuit he ended up losing over leaking the sex tape. While Rick Ross has addressed the beef and has expressed his desire for it to die, 50 Cent seems to have no intention of letting it be squashed, with him going as far as to interrupt an interview that was taking place with the sole intent of poking fun of the projected album sales for Rick Ross’ new album Black Market, a few weeks ago.
The lawsuit which was filed in Connecticut, is seeking damages of over $2 million from Rick Ross to 50 Cent for using the famous track.

Rick Ross likes to openly declare that he is “the biggest boss” of the rap game. Now he has added another title to his repertoire, that of the biggest ghostwriter in the business.
Ghostwriting has been the hot topic of the rap game in 2015; with Drake and Meek Mill engaged in their recent beef after Meek sprouted ghostwriting accusations on Twitter, bringing into question the legitimacy of the 6 God’s craft.
Ricky Rozay has now revealed that when he isn’t rapping derogatory and insensitive material and becoming embroiled in lawsuits, he is feeding some of the hottest names in the game some bars of the lyrical variety. In an interview with Time, promoting his upcoming Black Market release, Ross had the following to say:
“I finally wrote a record telling the way it feels for me to be a ghostwriter, and not only a ghostwriter, but one of the biggest in the rap game. Because of my own personal success I’ve always been able to keep that in the shadows. On this record, I just felt it was so current. It was needed.”
It’s a pretty big call from the man who himself has created a fake persona as a gangster and hustler, when in reality he made a living as a correctional officer at a US prison, which has seriously dented his own street cred.
Ross noted that ghostwriting is dangerous in the world of battle rap, but for mainstream artists it is certainly more acceptable:
“When you’re an artist where maybe the focus is really the talent and the different things you bring to the game, I believe it’s more understandable.”
Rick Ross has continued riding this promotional wave, and it would seem that he is stopping at nothing to draw extra attention to his upcoming album. In a previous interview of a similar nature the larger than life rapper revealed his desire to work with none other than UK songstress Adele, describing her recent smash Hello as “one of the biggest songs in the history of music.”
It remains to be seen if Ross is telling the truth, but it will be fascinating if any of the ghostwriting recipients are named.
Black Market is slated for a December 4 release.

The past few months there has been mostly bad news surrounding the Maybach Music Group boss, Rick Ross. Ross is in the midst of some legal troubles, facing kidnapping, assault and battery charges and a lawsuit involving a woman accusing a member of his entourage of rape. He is also in the middle of the bickering between Maybach artists Wale and Meek Mill, and I hesitantly mention his ongoing and super lame social media beef with 50 Cent. However, none of this seems to faze Ross, aka Ricky Rozay, as he is dropping new tracks and remixes nearly every week. Maybe the once-called-fraud Rozay thinks the long string of criminal charges will somehow assist in proving to everyone he is not the aforementioned fraud?
Ross is clearly still focused on releasing music, letting fans know December 4 is the day Black Market will drop. It is safe to quote him on this date as he not only has released the track listing, but also a lavish cinematic trailer featuring Ross and all his usual spoils – a Rolls Royce, cash, guns and sunglasses. Check it out below.

The new project will feature 17 tracks and include guest appearances by Nas, DJ Premier, Cee-Lo Green, Future, Mary J. Blige, Mariah Carey, John Legend, Chris Brown and The-Dream. Surprisingly, there are no Maybach artists listed.
We have also been treated to the third track off the album, One Of Us, featuring Nas.
Ross recently dropped the video for lead single Sorry, which features a cameo from Lira Galore his (ex?)-ex-fiance. You can watch that here.

Black Market is Ross’ second album release this year following Black Dollar released back in September.
Rick Ross. If you take his word for things, he is “the biggest boss”. Perhaps then it comes as quite the surprise that the larger than life rapper has voiced his desire to collaborate with none other than pop singing sensation Adele.
Whether or not Rick Ross appears to be riding on the back of Adele’s record breaking debut of Hello remains to be seen, as a potential collaboration between the two does not exactly seem to be a perfect match.
In an interview with Complex in which he revealed the album art for his upcoming Black Market release, Rick Ross has detailed his passion and desire to work with the UK songstress, and we can’t fault his eager attitude:
“I love the Adele single. I’m a huge fan of Adele, her last album, the 21 project, I loved that album. I’m just a fan.
I’m reaching out through you guys right now. Adele, I love you, baby. Get at me — I got a wonderful idea for us. [Laughs] Congratulations on your new music.”
While the request seems absurd at first, there is at least some shared connection between the two artists. Ross seems to have created the genius idea of jumping on a remix of Hello, and the results are surprisingly not that bad:
[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3iOPopkKBRY]
While Ross is seemingly attempting to cater to a mainstream audience, it would be amiss to ignore the legal troubles that have continued to engulf the rapper. After implications in a rape case earlier this year, Ricky Rozay has recently been serving under house arrest following a ‘pistol-whipping’ incident.
Only time will tell as to whether we will see a future collaboration between the pairing, but the criminal record that Ross carries might be enough to sway Adele from any future endeavours.
[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WS2H73Q3WsE]
Rick Ross has been implicated in a rape case, despite the fact he was not directly involved, and it is not alleged that he had anything to do with the physical rape. The woman, who is identified as Jane Doe, claims that she was raped by Rick Ross’ associate Thaddeus ‘Black’ James on the Grammy’s weekend.
Ross and his crew allegedly gave a ride to the woman after they invited her to a weed convention called the Cannabis Cup. She was then apparently given a drink that made her feel dizzy, and she woke up a few hours later with James still in the car. She then went back to James’ house and passed out again, where she believes James assaulted her, realising after waking up the next morning with her clothes removed and some memories of the night.
Without further details, it seems slightly odd that Rick Ross is being sued for the allegations, although he is implicated as he rode in the van and James worked for him. Currently, Ross is on bail for aggravated assault and kidnapping charges.
Rick Ross has since responded to the allegations:
“It has been brought to my attention that serious allegations have been made against an independent contractor, who’s services I use often. And while I am not directly involved or implicated, as a man and a father, I take this very seriously. I don’t believe any woman’s safety should be compromised and she should never be forced to do anything outside of her will, regardless of the circumstances.”
“While I personally have no knowledge of the specifics surrounding these allegations, it is my hope that this is rectified quickly and with sensitivity.”
This isn’t the first time Ross has been involved in a rape controversy. Last year he came under fire for the lyrics “Put Molly all in her champagne, she ain’t even know it / I took her home and I enjoyed that, she ain’t even know it,” in the song “U.O.E.N.O.
Despite multiple apologies, he lost his deal with Reebok and likely a swathe of fans.
It looked for a while like Rick Ross (aka Ricky Rozay) was finished and Meek Mill was going to be Maybach Music’s new ‘bawse’. But this is no longer the case after Ricky Rozay today dropped Foreclosures (a title that his lawyer had announced in July following Ross’ arrest for kidnapping, and aggravated battery and assault).
[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/221713777″ params=”auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&visual=true” width=”100%” height=”450″ iframe=”true” /]
Ross’ last album, Hood Billionaire, was mediocre at best and made me worry that he was getting too old for this gangsta rap thang. But it seems that now in 2015, his raps are back on point, and Foreclosures is his best song in quite some time.
The new single will be quickly followed by an entire album, with Black Dollar dropping this Thursday, September 3rd. It has been a long time coming, as back in June the album was to be released “soon”.
It seems common practice these days in hip hop for artists to take to Instagram and Twitter to hint at new music, and with lots of them failing to make good on their promises, it’s great to see them finally sticking to them. Both Jeezy and Rick Ross teased fans over the weekend, and both stuck to their word and put out singles. Jeezy dropped God on Tuesday along with his own album release date.
Foreclosures is produced by Justice League & 8 Bars, and is exactly the bawse dawg sound you’ve come to expect from a Rick Ross song – a bit of soul and a bit of street. Ross has clearly been putting in some work this last year and has come out sounding refreshed. Black Dollar will easily get the W if the rest of the album is as good as this track.
