Having recently announced a third album is in the works, and releasing the first single and title track, excitement is at an all time high for Lana Del Rey‘s Honeymoon release. The first taste in the form of the title track was quintessential Lana, but still had us desperate for more – and now she has delivered. Titled High By The Beach, Del Rey has returned once more to deliver her stunning voice and old time glamour.

Officially out August 10, an early version of High By The Beach has surfaced online over the weekend, because the internet exists and that’s just what happens these days. Flirting with electronica even more than ever before, the almost trap style beats intertwine with her golden era voice with the combination becoming almost too sultry and inviting to handle. With lyrics like “You could be a bad motherfucker but that don’t make you a man,” this is Lana Del Rey at her best. Replacing her normal string section with synths is a bold move from Del Rey, but there is something about her that makes us feel warm and full, all the while exposed and vulnerable. It’s safe to say, we can’t wait for Honeymoon to drop!

Lana Del Rey has dropped her new single Honeymoon, which is taken from her upcoming album of the same name. The album has been said to be scheduled to drop sometime in September. She mentioned that the album was going to be “very different from the last one and similar to the first two, Born to Die and Paradise.” Since already having inspiration for the album so soon after Ultraviolence dropped, we’re glad it’s being released without too much of a gap between albums.

The beginning sounds like a song played during a classic Hollywood 1930’s film, probably to portray the deep sadness of a female protagonist after getting her broken. The strings were a good attention grabber, since we aren’t normally confronted with raw strings like this in a pop track nowadays. It’s refreshing.

The slow sound of the song continues in the body of the track. Her voice, haunting as usual, rises above the medley and soaring like a bird in a cloudless sky. The video features a short clip of Del Rey lying in the grass beside a busy road. She is then standing up and quickly glances back at the road. The rest of the video consists of the songs lyrics.

She shared an Instagram post, explaining it’s place in the record and what it means to her:

It sounds very Lana Del Rey, meaning she has stuck to her signature sound.

Americana Chanteuse Lana Del Rey has revealed that her new album will be released sometime around September. The Summertime Sadness singer, in the throes of her The Endless Summer Tour alongside Courtney Love and Grimesis reported to have shared the news of her release date during a gig in Washington on Friday night.

Believed to be called Honeymoon, it will be the Del Rey’s third album and the follow up to 2014’s Ultraviolence.

“It’s very different from the last one and similar to the first two, ‘Born to Die’ and ‘Paradise’. I finished my last one in March and released it in June and I had a follow-up idea. It’s growing into something I really like. I’m kind of enjoying sinking into this more noirish feel for this one. It’s been good,” said Del Rey in January.

Although a track list hasn’t be released yet, Del Rey reportedly already has nine original songs and a cover ready, rumoured to be Nina Simone’s Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood, as well as featuring the production of Rick Nowels and some serious studio time with Mark Ronson.

Lana Del Rey fans have also apparently uncovered images of the singer on set filming a music video for her upcoming album. The purported photos are described as “Lana Del Rey on set of a new music video for her upcoming album Honeymoon,” and were allegedly taken in San Pedro in April. Have a squizz here.

Meanwhile, lend your ears to Lana’s latest song Big Eyes, a song she recorded for the Tim Burton film of the same name.
