When you think of festivals what comes to mind? Big crowds, sunshine, drugs and booze… Not exactly an elderly person’s paradise. But four Americans; Neil, Anne, Isolde and Denny, decided to break the stereotype that old people can’t boogie by attending Bonnaroo.

The friends were filmed by Funny or Die, and were treated to a rather VIP version of the festival, which hosts about 80 000 people every year. They got to chat with bands such as Mumford and Sons, who called up their grandkids to tell them that they were wasted! Enjoying backstage seats to all of the performances, the crew also walked around the camping areas, even receiving a gold sticker tattoo. Judging by the video it looks like they had a fabulous time, particularly at the silent disco, which they were able to skip the line to.

Cameras followed them for the entire day, as they ate dinner with Houndmouth, rode the ferris wheel and spoke to various bands such as Rubblebucket. They were even able to get up on stage for certain acts, and watched Kendrick Lamar from the soundboard above him.

It’s comforting to know that the yolo life doesn’t necessarily have to end when you reach seventy. I know I’ll certainly want to continue partying and going to festivals until I can physically no longer dance. Like this amazing man at an electronic music festival in Amsterdam!

While over the weekend we’ve all been suffering some serious FOMO over America’s Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, it’s one particular little boy that definitely had the most easily envied, good-vibed and enjoyable time at the festival.

7-year-old Squish broke the Guinness World Record for most high fives in five hours at the festival, which is almost twice as old as he is. Previously held by Ram Kadam and V Generation in India in 2012 with 2,181 high fives, Squish has now taken it with his own record of 2,392, all given on the Friday of the festival weekend.

The record was set up alongside the festival, with Squish standing on a pedestal so that each high five would be overhead as the rules require, as the two thousand people lined up to help him do it in a quick and organized fashion. All on World High-Five Day as well.

It’s not the first time Squish has been a big part of Bonnaroo life. He and his mum have documented their Bonnaroo journey for a number of years. For the 2013 leg of the festival, Squish promised he would shave his mother’s head on stage in exchange for festival organisers adding Norwegian artist Bernhoft to the bill – which they succeeded in doing. They also jumped around on stage with Haim that very same year.

Hopefully Australian festivals jump on board with this kind of fan involvement. Hey Splendour organisers, what’s it gonna take for someone to get on stage?

Bonnaroo is in it’s final day and there has already been some pretty stellar things go down. Not only does it have a line up to incite festival envy in any music lover; it is also home to the long standing late night “Superjam” which sees surprise collaborations and general awesomeness come to fruition.

The Saturday Night 2015 Throwback Superjam was curated by Pretty Lights, Run D.M.C’s Darryl McDaniels and Metallica basist Rob Trujillo. The first surprise appearance took place almost immediately when unscheduled guests Jon Hamm and Zach Galifinakis took to the stage and belted out an endearing and hilarious version of Michael Jackson’s “We are the World.”

If that’s not enough Chance the Rapper (who has been getting around the festival with buddy Kendrick Lamar) performed an array of covers from DJ Jazzy Jeff to Notorious B.I.G.

If you missed out on the action, be sure to tune in to the last day streaming live right now and check out “The Bluegrass Situation Superjam featuring Ed Helms” at 12:30pm.

When legendary funk act Earth, Wind and Fire took to the Bonnaroo stage on Saturday night, no one could have predicted what would go down. In classic festival spontaneity and splendidness, bassist Verdine White decided to capitalise when he saw some well known faces in the crowd.

In a move that has gone above and beyond the call of surprise, the classic group called up hip hop artists Chance the Rapper and Kendrick Lamar to show the crowd (who almost certainly were NOT expecting this kind of cameo) their freestyle talents. Of course, they graciously obliged. You can check them out at around the 1:15:00 minute mark. “I knew who [Lamar] was, but it wasn’t planned,” White said later.
The duo look like they are having a killer time and the performance pays testament to the talent of these young rappers. They embrace the opportunity to let loose and do a pretty damn good job.

If you have a classic case of Monday-itis, the cure is here. The last day of Bonnaroo is streaming live RIGHT NOW!

You can check out the full line up here. With so much talent in one place, it is no wonder that it has become a melting pot for on stage collaborations, and a general bro-down for all involved.
