Another week and another crop of fresh music videos from some of your favourite artists and some of your new favourite artists (you just don’t know it yet). We’ve taken the time to round them all up for you to take a gander at below
Emma Louise – Illuminate
The video for Emma Lousie’s hugely successful Illuminate is a beautiful marriage between music and visuals. Under blue lights, there are dancers moving together as one to bring the words to life and the video paired with the music is so natural and seamless it is as though they were created together as one performance piece.
Coming together for their fourth video, it is a collaboration between the singer and director Dylan Duclos using choreography by Jason Winters and it is a true testament to the adage that sometimes, less is more.

Bloc Party – Stunt Queen
They may have only released Hymns in January, but already the revamped Bloc Party have dropped a new single Stunt Queen. Written along with a bunch of other new material during their tour with Falls Festival earlier in the year, the song is reminiscent of their earlier work while (note the the hints of Silent Alarm, particularly at the open) with the renewed energy that comes with a fresh lineup.
The video is a classic tour diary, sticking strong with the theme and narrative that finds its footings somewhere between the sticky floors of The Forum (Melbourne) and Enmore (Sydney) Theatres.

AYLA – Like The Other Kids
A decked out abandoned train carriage, lush fields and daisy chains make up the sweet, sun-drenched visuals for the new video from Sunshine Coast’s AYLA. Going her own way as she frolics through the greenery, chops firewood and takes aim at beer cans with a slingshot, the video is a symbol of personal libation and a celebration of the wonderfully feeling of fulfilment that comes with forging your own path.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pd838scz2NE
The song might be called Down At The Beach, but the new video from Sydney’s Big White was filmed in an abandoned Belgian castle between shows in Paris and Amsterdam. Shooting the footage themselves, they opted to avoid a beach clip as the song is about “killing something that’s old”, letting go and finding time and space to reflect.
With the filtered, hand-shot footage, the video has a certain poignant nostalgia about it, ensuring that they achieved just that. A far cry from (and far better than) the cheesy tourist beach shots they could have gone for instead.

Dave – Six Paths
Fresh from his game-changing remix with Toronto’s incumbent king Drake, South London’s Dave has returned with the third visual accompaniment from his incredible Six Paths EP. Embodying the same stunning artistic direction, the title track video shows Dave stunting eerily in black and white with a medieval castle as his setting. Tying in with the dark, gritty, string lead beat, Dave brings his same razor sharp bars.
To keep with tradition, there’s even a cameo from collaborator AJ Tracey proving these two are bros ‘til the end.

Sampa The Great – HERoes (The Response)
After sending out a call to action in the first half of HERoes earlier this month, the incredible Sampa The Great has returned with its answer. Sporadic electronic tones open the tune, making way for a truly neck shattering African-influenced drum beat.
Sampa flexes a seriously incredible flow alongside her always constant attention to lyricism. As she raps at an incredible pace, despite it being a lyric video, it’s hard enough just to read along.

Action Bronson – Durag vs. Headband
Everyone’s favourite Albanian rapper turned chef in Action Bronson has finally returned with the new hilariously named track Durag vs Headband. Featuring the whole Fuck That’s Delicious crew, plus producer and Ancient Aliens co-star Knxwledge.
Both the video and music are outstanding, the whole gang filling the screen with their raw tenacity over a rough boom bap beat by Knx and always on point verses by Bronson. Not to mention Big Body Bes on the hook, reminding all once again how incredible he is.

The Avalanches – Because I’m Me
After returning oh so wonderfully at the start of this year and dropping their highly anticipated sophomore album Wildflower, The Avalanches have been casually releasing a number of music videos from the project over the last few months. Obviously, they’ve saved the best until now though, with the video for Because I’m Me.
This heartstring-plucking love tale follows a young kid in the subway trying to seduce the girl behind the ticket desk. What results is an incredible sing and dance video which is simply put, brilliantly acted, choreographed and scripted. It’s pretty much the definition of feel-good.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eu0KsZ_MVBc
YG – One Time Comin’
A possible glimpse into an upcoming project, YG’s One Time Comin’ continues with the police brutality themes which are evident throughout much of his music.
Shots of YG evading the police by car are paired with shocking first person footage of an innocent man frantically on the run, who is inevitably shot for no reason. It’s a powerful video with a similarly intense track below.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2nTCUI5reJw
I AM D – Seven Deuce
Brisbane’s most veracious emcee, I AM D, has come a long way since his 90s inspired boom bap tracks early in his career. After releasing a range of new and fresh, yet similarly dark anthems over the last few months, the D has now returned with yet another straight to the point track in Seven Deuce.
Paired with bold cinematography, this track is nothing short of fire. There’s no sugarcoated hooks to be found here either, just three minutes of the ill-est verses around, demonstrating I AM D’s skill brilliantly.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EWomlPOS73o
twelveAM – On My Own
One of Melbourne’s latest rising stars in twelveAM has released the video to his catchy heartfelt tune, On My Own. The track leads his debut EP, demonstrating briefly his ear for brilliant hooks, alongside his unique melodic flow and deep tone, painting a vivid picture as he longs for a lover.
No doubt he’ll be one to watch in the months to come.

Johnossi – Air Is Free
One of Sweden’s largest bands, the platinum selling Johnossi, have returned with yet another rock scorcher to get you grooving. Backed by harsh guitar riffs, bopping bass lines, marching drums and incredible, powerhouse vocals, Air Is Free follows a young nomad as he yearns for independence and freedom.
The result is a truly moving journey, with a soundtrack that is oh so sweet.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQDTG-caCOs
High Klassified – Gold feat. Mick Jenkins
One of Montreal’s finest upcoming producers, High Klassified has blessed us with a vocal collaboration with a similarly incredible artist in Chicago lyrical legend Mick Jenkins. With its smooth, jazzy and booming beat, we see its producer starring in a spooky love story.
Just in time for the Halloween period, the surrealistic clip is fit with creepy bunnies, eerie dolls and clowns, not to mention the sheer insanity of the narrative. Definitely a see it to believe it type video!

Bad//Dreems – Mob Rule
After recently wrapping up their tour with Sydney rockers DMA’s, Adelaide kings Bad//Dreems have followed this up with the release of an incredible new track Mob Rule.
This rough and tough anthem sees the lads reflecting on Australia’s own culture, and what better way that to piece the whole track together with a range of hazy, 80s TV excerpts and clips.

Suicide Squad looks set to be the must-watch movie of the American Summer blockbusters. Not because it’s going to be good (who knows if it will be?), but because of its stunning soundtrack. The movie has already produced the phenomenal Purple Lamborghini from Skrillex and Rick Ross as well as a haunting track from Kehlani, Gangsta exploring the torrid romance between The Joker and Harley Quinn, and the rest of the track listing of the soundtrack is studded with musical heavyweights. The latest peek into the album has come from Mark Ronson, who has previewed the track he made with Action Bronson and Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys fame.
The track, called Standing In The Rain, is a reimagining of a 70s song of the same name. It’s a pretty soulful tune, but also has that classic funk that Ronson is known for. This is the third collaboration between Bronson and Ronson and the pair seem to be developing a very nice chemistry.
The preview came via Zane Lowe’s World Record radio show on Apple Radio. After playing a short clip of the song, he brought Mark Ronson on air to discuss the track and the collaboration behind it. Ronson toasted praise of both Bronson and Auerbach’s voices, stating that Dan had one of the most soulful voices in rock at the moment.
Standing In The Rain will be released in full with the rest of the Suicide Squad soundtrack this Friday, August 5, same day as the movie. The track list of the whole soundtrack is below, and if you can tear yourself away from Boys Don’t Cry for a few hours, you can go see the visuals to go with it.
1. Purple Lamborghini – Skrillex & Rick Ross
2. Sucker For Pain – Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa & Imagine Dragons (with Logic, Ty Dolla $ign & X Ambassadors)
3. Heathens – Twenty One Pilots
4. Standing In The Rain – Action Bronson & Dan Auerbach (of The Black Keys) (ft. Mark Ronson)
5. Gangsta – Kehlani
6. Know Better – Kevin Gates
7. You Don’t Own Me – Grace (ft. G-Eazy)
8. Without Me – Eminem
9. Wreak Havoc – Skylar Grey
10. Medieval Warfare – Grimes
11. Bohemian Rhapsody – Panic! At The Disco
12. Slippin’ Into Darkness – War
13. Fortunate Son – Creedence Clearwater Revival
14. I Started A Joke– ConfidentialMX (feat. Becky Hanson)

When it comes to food, hip-hop and wrestling, Action Bronson is a well-documented expert. Ever the renaissance man, the Brooklyn rapper caught up with Complex to talk sneakers. While keeping only one or two pairs on the road, the rapper revealed a nuanced knowledge of sneaker brands.
It turns out that Bronson was quick to develop an early affinity with New Balance 911s after admiring his mother’s footwear at a young age. That said, it’s Adidas’ Ultra Boosts that are the rapper’s go-to. While he lost his last pair when working out and eating chicken in a Jacuzzi, he had nothing but praise for the line. “For me this has been the best shoe that’s come out in a long time, and I usually don’t like Adidas… I think this shoe changed the game,” he contended.
Bronson was reluctant to review Michael Jordan‘s brand of sneakers. “I had Jordans growing up, there’s no doubt about it. Nowadays, this has just become the go-to shoe for every single human being. I can’t do it,” he explained. “I don’t like the quality of them. I don’t like the look of them anymore. Something changed about it. The nostalgia ain’t there for me anymore. It became more like a circus shoe in my opinion.”
Despite owning a $30,000 pair of Jordans, he admitted he did not wear the brand.”I have a personal issue with Mike… We didn’t hit it off when we met. He looked at me, probably, as a little shit. He’s seven feet and can dunk on and put his nuts on my head, so he couldn’t care less about me. We just didn’t hit it off.” When presented with Nike shoes his spirits lifted, “honestly this is a better section for me.”

Speaking with Beats 1’s Zane Lowe, culinary expert turned TV show host and acclaimed rapper Action Bronson disclosed some much needed information regarding the third instalment of the Blue Chips mixtape series, this time entitled Blue Chips 7000. Coming off the high from his debut major label release entitled, Mr. Wonderful, it seems Bronson prefers the more organic mixtape release.
“I don’t know what [Blue Chips 7000] is man, could’ve been an album could’ve been [a mixtape], it’s just coming out. [The only difference is] having to deal with a lot of f-cking people and not having to deal with a lot of people.”
The original pair of Blue Chips mixtapes featured production solely from Brookyln based production duo Party Supplies, however Bronson has disclosed that the production credits for the new project will feature the likes of Alchemist, Knxwledge, Budgie and Buckwild, all joining the Party (Supplies). Two tracks from the project have already been released/posted, this untitled track debuted at an Auckland show, as well as the official track Mr 2.Face featuring close collaborator Meyhem Lauren as well as Jamaica native Jah Tiger. As for when we can expect it to be released? Bronson told Lowe he was tying up some “loose ends,” before saying, “This month, as soon as it’s done I’m gonna drop it.”
Now that season one of the Viceland version has just been completed, the pair quickly touched on Action’s role hosting the Vice cooking show, F*ck That’s Delicious, as well as his future plans, with Bronson saying, “I want to travel to Asia, South East Asia, Cambodia, Thailand, Singapore – No matter what that show is going to go on forever”.
Listen to the full hilarious interview below, where the duo talks “utter sh-t” about family, bathing routines, F*ck That’s Delicious and of course the Blue Chips 7000 mixtape.

Action Bronson has faced further controversy this week, with yet a college show being cancelled yet again. This time it has been cancelled by Trinity College, as audiences and venues voice concerns over his music – particularly his 2011 song Consensual Rape.
Last month the chef-turned-rapper and TV show host was removed from the lineup for George Washington University’s Spring Fling event. The event organisers deemed some of Bronson’s lyrics and videos to be misogynistic and violent, and therefore inappropriate. Having also been pulled from last Summer’s NXNE festival for similar reasons, where he was due to perform a showcase, this latest cancellation for Trinity College’s Spring Fling does not bode well for Bronson.
Following another petition via change.org, the school’s president, vice president and Trinity College Barnyard Entertainment took the decision to cancel Bronson’s appearance at the event. A statement issued via Facebook announced the change just yesterday, ahead of the event taking place on April 30:
We want to inform you that the rapper Action Bronson has been removed as the headliner for Spring Weekend 2016. Kehlani will still be performing.
We took the petition, “Remove Action Bronson from Trinity College’s Spring Weekend Concert,” which was published on Change.org, and the views expressed in the comment section very seriously. They were some of the most important factors in our decision to remove Action Bronson from our campus.
The lengthy statement also outlined reasons for cancelling Bronson’s appearance, including the following:
As both students and student leaders, we fully agree that it is not only certain songs by Action Bronson that go against the school’s mission. The very act of bringing him to this campus runs counter to the College’s obligation to protect the emotional and physical safety of its students. As the Executive Board of EAC Barnyard, we believe that protecting the safety of our students is our top priority. The Executive Board of EAC Barnyard would like to apologize for considering bringing Action Bronson, an explicitly unconscious rapper, to campus. We would like to apologize for any emotional harm that the decision has caused our community.
They also expressed pride in the student body for actively protesting and voicing their concerns:
In addition, we are incredibly proud of the petition prompting the decision to remove Action Bronson from Spring Weekend. Members of our own executive and general committees have signed it and have encouraged others to sign as well. Not in recent memory have we seen such a diverse range of students, faculty, administration, alumni, friends of the college, and members of our larger Hartford community unite to promote positive change on this campus. We want to thank those who signed the petition for being brave enough to not only change the culture and climate at Trinity College, but to also construct a model that aims to affect positive social change.
Read the full statement here.
In response to the action from Trinity College, Action Bronson’s spokesperson directed all enquiries to the recent statement from Bronson that followed the cancellation by GWU. The open letter defended Bronson’s position as an artist by stating that not all his lyrics should be taken as a direct representation of his personal views. Commenting that his role is similar to that of a director or actor, it should not be assumed that he endorses views he puts forward through his art.
Undeniably, this is a fair statement, however the question of artists accountability still stands. And it appears that it may be too late for Bronson to retrospectively remedy what should have been made clear at the start.

It’s always a good day when there’s new music from Action Bronson. Having released one of our favourite albums of last year, Mr Wonderful, and recently rocking sold out crowds in Australia, Bam Bam Baklava has already released a number of new tracks this year. The latest is the reggae-infused Mr 2 Face, released alongside collaborators Jah Tiger and Meyhem Lauren, who opened for Bronson on his recent tour.
The track is a step away from the blues and soul-infused instrumentals peppering Mr Wonderful. The distinctly reggae-sounding tune, complete with a full patois-laden verse from the wonderful Jah Tiger, is smooth, smooth, smooth. Breezy and understated, this is groovy as hell. While reggae typically bores me a little, Bronson and Lauren’s raspy flows work so well with the laid back vibe. A female vocalist adds a honeyed tone to the outro, and the song tapers out just before the four-minute mark.
I’m loving this track, and I’m looking forward to hearing more from the upcoming Blue Chips 7000 project, formerly known as Blue Chips 7, part of the Blue Chips mixtape series.
Considering he had this to say about the project, I’m pretty damn keen.

We’re not sure when it’ll be coming out, considering he’s also busy with his food series Fuck, That’s Delicious, but hopefully it’ll be out within the next few months.

It’s no surprise when musicians branch out into other ventures, be that clothing brands and activewear, television, barbershops and more. Now, a whole bunch of people including Alex Frankel of Holy Ghost, rapper Despot and Run The Jewels’ El-P have opened up an upmarket Jewish deli in Brooklyn, called Frankel’s Delicatessen & Appetising.
At the helm of the Frankel’s operation is Frankel and his brother Zach. It’s part owned by El-P and Despot, among others. It looks incredible.

Back in 2011, Action Bronson thought it would be a great idea to release a song called Consensual Rape. Well, turns out it wasn’t such a good idea. Not only is the thought process to even make a song like that appalling, but now it seems a certain bitch called karma is getting its way, and is following Bronson around like a bad smell.
Dropped from a lineup in June last year, Bronson’s spot on the lineup for a concert at George Washington University’s Spring Fling has been cancelled, with the university citing the same song as the reason why. In a statement on their Facebook, the Program Board apologised to the GW community “for causing distress over the past few days and for attempting to bring an artist who is not consistent with our values of diversity and inclusion.” Now, Bronson has responded.
In his own statement on his Facebook, Bronson has finally officially addressed not only the outcry but the song itself. “It has become clear to me that things have reached a point which makes me feel the need to address the issues raised so that we can bring some understanding and healing to the table, so to speak,” he said. “I can’t continue to walk around with the thought that people are thinking these things about me that are far from who I really am.”
From here, Bronson goes on to say how he meant to depict a story with Consensual Rape, and that the “general sentiment of violence towards women” doesn’t actually represent him as a person. According to Bronson, these lyrics were not to be taken literally. “The songs I make aren’t any different than a director creating a movie, or an author writing a book meaning they contain scenes or things happen in them that aren’t meant to be anything but an artistic expression,” he writes.
This kind of issue is such a grey area. What’s in a song lyric, and do artists have a responsibility to recognise their influence when they are creating such works. Whether it be a song, a movie, a book or anything, what makes one okay and the other not? Particularly with hip-hop, increasing scrutiny on artists’ lyrics puts the person under the microscope along with their lyrics, but we aren’t accusing Quentin Taratino of being a violent murderer from the movies he makes. Bronson recognises this himself, saying “I understand that when it comes to musicians, and more specifically rappers, the lyrics I say are taken to heart many times as a representation of my beliefs or true feelings,” before clarifying that he thinks violence against women in any form is “DISGUSTING.”
At the end of the day, Bronson clearly didn’t mean to offend anyone. As Bronson says in his statement, “It was not my intention to hurt people when I made it years ago, and I certainly will be much more sensitive on this matter moving ahead.” But, that doesn’t change that the track is indeed offensive to people. He can’t stop people being offended, and unfortunately for him, it seems this poor choice will follow him for a long time as the world continues to grow the social conscience it has been without for far too long. He perhaps sums it up best himself by ending his statement with “I’m far, far from perfect and I recognize my flaws and I’m making an effort to grow and be a better human.” It just leaves the question of if we should move past or not. I guess that’s up to the individual, and how they find it. See his full statement below:

Meyhem Lauren has teamed up with fellow Queens rapper Action Bronson for a new track titled Garlic and Oil. The track will feature on Meyhem’s upcoming mixtape, Piatto D’Oro, set for release later in the year.
Those New York style raps are felt heavily throughout both halves of this track; Bronson and Meyhem’s flows go together like, well – garlic and oil. The title isn’t a reflection of how well the two mesh, but a reference to the fact that there are two different beats, courtesy of DJ Shadow and A-Villa, on the track, each with their own sweet verses from both rappers.
The two have been doing a lot together lately. Meyhem has been featured frequently on Bronson’s Viceland show, Fuck That’s Delicious, and he’s also got a new series of his own coming soon to Juxtapoz Magazine: Got the Fever TV, which will feature interviews with graffiti artists.
Meyhem and Bronson also showed off their freestyle skills recently when they stopped by Eminem’s Sirus XM channel Shade 45 to support Fuck, That’s Delicious. They delivered a freestyle over an Alchemist beat, with – wait for it – Wayne Brady of Whose Line Is It Anyway? fame, who may have shown them just how it is done.

Action Bronson finally returned to Australia last week, in support of his excellent 2015 release Mr Wonderful. His first studio album released under a major label, the rapper crafted a unique blend of observational, train of thought and darkly comical verses in his distinct Queens accent, soulful samples, bluesy rock guitars and more.
With help from a solid list of guest collaborators and producers including Chance the Rapper, Mark Ronson, The Alchemist, Statik Selektah and even Zane Lowe, it was one of the most interested hip-hop releases of last year.
Having last visited Australia in 2014 on The Rapture tour alongside Eminem, Kendrick Lamar and J Cole, Action Bronson finally returned to the country on a headline tour. See the photos below from his performance at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney on March 13, 2016.
