Run The Jewels are finally returning to Australia, performing at Falls Festival as well as headline shows in Sydney and Melbourne (sorry, everywhere else). The duo will be heading down under nearly three years to the day since their last visit, so to say we’re excited is a hefty understatement.
The pair of Killer Mike and El-P have put out three albums together, each as consistently brash, bold and simply catchy as the last, with their latest, Run The Jewels 3, surprise dropping on Christmas 2016, a few weeks ahead of schedule.
Their blend of hip-hop is unique in its blend of irreverence and poignance, with sobering political commentary lined up right next to witty, comedic irreverence.
Known for their blisteringly high-energy live shows (check out our review of their last visit to Australia), this is guaranteed to be one of the greatest shows of the summer, if not all year.
Joining Run The Jewels on support will be Flatbush Zombies, also in town for Falls Festival, along with headline dates of their own. The trio (who are, obviously, from Flatbush) have really started building a name for themselves over the past few years, slowly bubbling out of the underground and into a more widespread spotlight.
