Oddisee Announces New Album, Shares New Single “Things”

The eclectic talent that is Oddisee has announced a brand new album, The Iceberg, set for release in February 2017. The announcement comes along with new single Things, giving us a taste of what to expect.

Oddisee is an incredibly prolific artist, and The Iceberg will be his third release in a single year. According to a press release, the twelve-track offering will talk about the complexities of “money, sex, politics, race and religion,” while smattered with elements of jazz, gospel, R&B and “hard beats.”

New single Things opens on a beat that is essentially downplayed tropical house. Admittedly I’m not a fan of this sound, and therefore the song doesn’t resonate as much as I’d hoped, but it will nevertheless succeed as a crossover hit. besides, his lyrics are strong enough that the track is still an engaging listen atop the rhythm. His verses are poignant and informed, looking inwards at how money and power only makes one hungry for more and more – more money, more power, more possessions, more Things.

The announcement has also come with an extensive three month tour throughout Europe and the USA in early 2017.

Oddisee’s new album The Iceberg will be officially released on February 24, 2017 via Mello Music Group. More details and pre-orders can be found here.
