In case you hadn’t heard, hip-hop legends A Tribe Called Quest dropped one hell of an album just last week. The highly appropriate-for-the-times We got it from Here… Thank You 4 Your Service was released last week to massive praise from fans worldwide, after 18 years of agonising waiting.

But that may not be the only bombshell that has been dropped. Q-Tip has revealed in a new interview with Billboard that not only will the record definitely be their last, but a world tour is coming, and probably pretty soon.

“This is our last record, and we’ll probably do a world tour,” he said. “After that, that’s it, for the rest of our lives.”

As of yet no tour dates have been announced, but buzz is building. Q-Tip and Jarobi White recently performed cuts off the new record on Saturday Night Live and were subsequently joined on stage later by Consequence and Busta Rhymes.

In what could only be considered a bittersweet ending for one of the greatest hip-hop acts of all time, it would be hard for Tribe to continue after the passing of Phife Dawg earlier this year, succumbing to a longtime battle with diabetes since his teen years. The group paid a massive tribute to Phife on SNL, pulling down a banner behind the stage displaying a painting of the legend.

“It was sensory overload,” (when Phife died) he told Billboard. “It was Phife who spearheaded this whole project – all we could do is make dope music and celebrate our man.”
