The hip-hop world is celebrating A Tribe Called Quest this week, with the recent announcement that one final album will be coming out setting our excitement into overdrive.
It’s already been announced that the album will be out next Friday, November 11, and that it will be titled We Got It From Here, Thank You 4 Your Service. An in-depth interview with Q Tip also revealed that guest features will include Kendrick Lamar, Jack White, Andre 3000, Busta Rhymes and Elton John.
Yesterday the album cover was also revealed:
More names have now been added to the incredible lineup of guest contributors – both Anderson Paak and the legendary Talib Kweli will also feature on the forthcoming record, written before the untimely death of Phife Dawg in March this year.
It has also been announced that A Tribe Called Quest will be performing on Saturday Night Live next Saturday, November 12, to coincide with the release. It seems likely that a couple of the aforementioned guests will be joining them for the performance, which will most likely include one new and one older song. The SNL episode will be hosted by none other than comedian Dave Chappelle, a close friend to many within the hip-hop world, and a driving force in black entertainment across the past few decades. Amazingly enough this will be Chappelle’s first ever time hosting the longstanding sketch show.
