Chance the Rapper has announced his first ever Australian headline tour dates. He’ll be playing shows in Sydney and Melbourne in January 2017, right after performing at a number of New Year festivals including Origin NYE in Perth, Beyond The Valley in Melbourne, and Field Day in Sydney.
Earlier this year saw the Chicago-born rapper drop one of this year’s best releases, Coloring Book. Since then he has campaigned to make mixtapes and free releases eligible for Grammy Awards, literally changing the game in the process, as his bid was successful – and it’s likely that he’ll receive a nomination, if not a win, especially considering his main competition Frank Ocean will not be competing against him.
Ocean and Chance also both recently attended the final ever White House state dinner under the Obama presidency, with Chance having enjoyed an enduring friendship with the President throughout much of his culturally rich eight-year term.
Chance the Rapper will perform in Sydney on January 3 and in Melbourne on January 4, 2017.
Tickets go on sale this Thursday, October 27 at 10am – details can be found at livenation.com.au. Telstra customers will be able to access a pre-sale from TODAY, Monday October 24 at 10am until the same time on Wednesday – details can be found at Telstra.com/music.
