Omar Rodriguez-Lopez Shares Video for “Pineapple Face, Not Even Toad Loves You”

Fresh off the back of an Australian run for Splendor In The Grass, At The Drive-In and The Mars Volta mastermind Omar Rodriguez-Lopez has been keeping himself busy off the road, dropping a new video over the weekend.

The wonderfully-titled Pineapple Face, Not Even Toad Loves You is a single off his album Sworn Virgins, the first of 12 records that the musician is expected to release in 2016 – despite the fact that there are only four months of it remaining (a feat that would make King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard look like Frank Ocean as far as productivity goes).

Featuring visuals by Polish graphic designer Maciej Chodziński, the video portrays Omar performing with a black and white filter over him alongside a synth player, and appears to be a normal performance video before 3D shapes and geometric patterns begin to form over the screen. As the song progresses through its entire seven minutes the visuals become more and more intense, eventually blotting out Omar completely, in parallel with the dynamic intensity of the music. Watch below.

Despite the new solo material, Omar will be kept busy touring with At The Drive-In over the next few months as the band continue to trek around the world and prep for their next LP.

Read Omar’s immediate plans for both his own solo career and the band in this interview with Rolling Stone.

Now, all we can do is wait for the next 11 records.
