Tony Hawk Rips Off Gooch Palms, Gooch Palms Obviously Pissed

Aussie two-piece Gooch Palms are raging over skateboarder Tony Hawk’s decision to use their song without credit. Hawk recently uploaded a video to his various social media accounts, using the self-proclaimed shit-pop song Trackside Daze as the soundtrack. Despite a prior agreement, there was no mention of the band or song whatsoever.

As seen in the comments, the band politely asked the Tony Hawk team to give them credit for the song:

“@tonyhawk hey mate! Thanks for using our song! Reckon you could add the song name and our band name to the post text? The Gooch Palms – Trackside Daze”

The band then stated on Facebook that they had emailed Tony Hawks team and were promised follow up action. Turns out that promise was as empty as a pool in skate season.

Gooch fans have been slamming the comment section on the video. Examples of the support include comments like: “Oi @tonyhawk ya GRONK credit the gooch palms,” “I’m only here because of @thegoochpalms,” “fucking credit the gooch palms ya cuntzzz,” “But tag the goochpalms tho” and so on.

The band then added their own Facebook status:

Good PalmsThey later added, “Just to be clear, we agreed to allow them to use it for free (aka “exposure”) if they properly credited us with links across all social media, which they didn’t do. So just bummed is all.

It’s never a good feeling to have your nostalgia nor career nor respect spat on. We all remember the joy of mashing the square button to finally land that triple kickflip to nose grind, but this really leaves a dirty smear on those childhood memories of worshipping Tony Hawk. There is no excuse to not give credit where it’s due, as we have discussed before (*cough*Danny Brown*cough*)

Get it together Birdman!
