One of the best things about Berry, New South Wales now (apart from its name) might be the Fairgrounds Festival. Having debuted last year and establishing itself as one of the best new festivals on the Australian calendar, the extravaganza is returning again in 2016 and today have announced a lineup of monolithic proportions. A two day event happening Friday the 2nd and Saturday the 3rd of December, this year’s Fairgrounds will feature a diverse and eclectic lineup.
Heading up a huge list of names is living deity Rodriguez. His popularity has absolutely skyrocketed in a case for the existence of eventual justice after the documentary on him Searching For Sugarman brought his harrowing story to light. The legendary songwriter last touched down in Australia in 2014 for a national tour. He’s back again this year touring with national treasure Archie Roach and he’s added Fairgrounds to his list of stops.
Perhaps the most electrifying band in Australia today in King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard will also be melting faces and causing mayhem on the Friday night. If you caught them at Splendour In The Grass this year you’ll know that the King Gizzard experience is amplified to 11 in a festival environment. They’ll be joined by fellow incendiary Australians in the iconic The Drones on the Friday night.
Saturday will see acts like the religious experience of Jagwar Ma, songstress Sarah Blasko dishing out goosebumps like early Christmas presents, the always amazing Big Scary, one of Canada’s best tag teams since the Hart Foundation in Japandroids as well as Swedish singer, songwriter and spinetingle merchant The Tallest Man On Earth along with plenty of others.
