Watch 1200 People Cover “Smells Like Teen Spirit”

Dubbed “The biggest band on earth” and known for their viral cover of Foo Fighters’ Learn to Fly, Rockin’ 1000 have organised 1200 musicians to perform the biggest cover of Smells Like Teen Spirit. Ever. The band consists of a multitude of people from every corner of the planet. The majority reign from the snowy and humble Cesana, Italy – where the performance was filmed.

Rockin’ 1000 has not released the official video yet, but an unofficial audience video has scored 139,000 views in just three days. Considering the distorted tones that made the song famous is famous for, it’s hard to not wince at the anticipatory piercing of the potential amp feedback. Against all odds, they managed to seamlessly nail the entire song. Considering some bands are flat out trying to organise their schedules around a measly four members, this is a pretty ridiculous feat.

Whilst the instant hike in views is impressive, this is nothing compared to the 31 million views from their Learn To Fly video from this time last year.

In 2015, the band consisted of 250 singers, 350 guitarists, 150 bassists, 250 drummers and one conductor. They’ve since adopted 200 more musicians because, you know, it wasn’t big enough.

Rockin’ 1000 were initially formed because the eager Cesanians were desperate for the Foo Fighters to come and play in their city. With a performance halfway between homage and beggary this ridiculous plan was a success. Foo Fighters graced the city with a show just four months after the video was released. Eternally humble Dave Grohl even invited a few of the members on stage.
The band was formed to grab the attention of big bands and encourage them to come to their city. With their latest being a Nirvana cover, it’s going to be quite upsetting when they find out what happened to Kurt.

If you’re looking to join this outrageous international crew, you can request to join as a guitarist, bassist, drummer, keyboardist or singer on their website.
