It’s almost time for BIGSOUND 2016, which is both exciting and alarming – where has the year gone? QMusic have just added a fresh bevy of artists to the already outrageous lineup, and holy shit this is gonna be a good time..
Fresh from a BET nomination, unstoppable pocket rocket Tkay Maidza joins the stellar lineup of talent both local and international. So too do shred-dogs DZ Deathrays, Briggs/Trails incendiary hip-hop project A.B. Original, teen prodigy Mallrat, super-buzzed artist PON CHO, and many many MANY more.
In case you’ve forgotten who was already slated for this year’s BIGSOUND, we’ll happily oblige: highlights include Good Boy, Middle Kids (who still only have one song out but it’s seriously impossible to get sick of), Sampa The Great, LANKS, MOSSY, and ex-Preatures member Gideon Bensen.
And, of course, BIGSOUND is not just about the incredible live music – it was recently announced that Kim f*ckin’ Gordon (Sonic Youth) and Peanut Butter Wolf would be amongst an enormous host of industry panellists this year. Bloody huge, you guys.
BIGSOUND 2016 kicks off from 7 – 9 September, with the Live portion taking place across 15 venues in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley. Of course, with the QLD lockout laws having begun to come into effect, it’ll be interesting to see just how late all the standard insane parties actually last for, but there’s no doubt in our minds it’ll still be a stupidly good time.
