The Avalanches Are BACK: Tour Dates Announced

Yesterday we brought you the news The Avalanches had updated all their social media platforms with a picture of featuring a gold butterfly stitched onto black fabric. While we were all hoping this would lead to the announcement of the band’s long awaited follow-up to 2000 debut, Since I Left You, it turns out The Avalanches are actually  getting back on the road for three live performances.

It’s crazy to think it’s been almost 10 years since they last played a show together, and five since their last DJ set, but the time must be right to get the band back together. The shows are all festival spots, with the duo of Robbie Chater and Tony Di Blasi – founding member Danny Seltmann left the band last year – playing Barcelona’s Primavera Sound Festival (on June 3 at Parc del Fòrum and June 5 at the closing party in the sala Apolo), Field Day in London (June 12) before returning to Australian shores for Splendour In The Grass (July 22-24).

While great news, the lack of information about an album is a bit of a letdown. Getting the chance to see The Avalanches live again is great, but if you miss out on tickets to Splendour then you’re out of luck. Fingers crossed getting back out in the live arena fires up the creatives juices and we don’t have to wait much longer for their second album.
