KAYTRANADA’s latest release, Glowed Up, is one soulful serve of woozy hip-hop, with a futuristic music video featuring none other than Anderson .Paak.
The single is the latest release from KAYTRANADA’s upcoming debut album 99.9%, which is set for release on May 6 via XL. The pastel-toned video takes place in a hazy, underground dance party. An eerie synth line leads into a headspace filled with crisp drum beats and muddy bass that adds to the surreal world of the visuals. Exploring the blurred line between reality and dream, KAYTRANADA shares a mattress with a cat, admires a plate of sandwiches, and watches Anderson .Paak deliver rap cuts on an old-school television set.
KAYTRANADA (aka Louis Kevin Celestin) became a global name in 2012 when his future-dance rework of Janet Jackson’s If went viral. If you can pinpoint a moment that kicked off the now 23-year-old producer’s career, that was it – he’s since gone on to remix hits by Missy Elliott and others to equal success, and has toured across Europe and beyond.
