ANNA WISE

New Video & Solo EP Announced By Kendrick Collaborator Anna Wise

Anna Wise, frequent Kendrick Lamar collaborator and one half of experimental indie electronica duo Sonnymoon, has dropped a sultry new video for her latest single Precious Possession. Her voice will probably sound familiar to Kendrick fans as she features on some of his biggest songs of the last few years including Money Trees, and the grammy-winning These Walls.

Precious Possession builds a stark contrast between her soft, feminine voice and a sharp hip-hop beat. This is also reflected in the video which shows her pouting and posing for the camera, her vintage-inspired baby pink dresses and floral patterns clashing with the dark, emotive lyrics. The lyrics seem somewhat sarcastic in their delivery – she has way too much sass to just be “his precious possession“.

This is the second video to be released from her forthcoming debut EP The Feminine Act:1. It follows BitchSlut, which explores the pressures and contradictions women face in their daily lives and “the damned if you do, damned if you don’t labyrinth of judgement.”

Wise says of the EP “The theme is ‘women.’ Women are great. We’re fucking great, and I want to talk about us. And talk about myself, because I’m a woman. I guess it’s kind of selfish. Let’s talk about me!”

Check out her Soundcloud to hear more from Anna Wise including a beautiful cover of Amy Winehouse‘s Me and Mr. Jones.

The Feminine Act: 1 will be released on the 27th of April
