Run The Jewels’ El-P has taken to Twitter to update the fans on the headway the duo are making on Run the Jewels 3, and the prognosis is good.
In a series of tweets, El-P has said that he and Killer Mike have been working their asses off in the studio, and have made so much progress that a 2016 release date is definitely on the cards.
pleased to report #RTJ3 is halfway done, the goal of a 2016 release is achievable and a safer, more profitable global economy in our grasp.

After announcing they had been too busy with touring for a 2015 release, the duo started work on the new album last December. If they are indeed halfway finished with it, it’s an impressive feat considering how busy both rappers have been, what with performing, featuring on soundtracks, their own radio show, incredible high-tech video clips, as well as Killer Mike’s constant appearances at rallies and political panels.
El-P also took the opportunity to update everyone on just how much weed he and Killer Mike are capable of smoking, though noting that they had some help from Little Shalimar and Wilder Zoby.
I would also like to report that @KillerMike and myself can apparently smoke almost a half pound of weed in 2 weeks, shocking even myself.

to be fair @littleshalimar and @wilderzoby helped with the smoke.

The duo have both been teasing snippets from the upcoming album, with Killer Mike sharing a taste last month via Instagram and El-P putting up another short clip a week ago.
With the incredible success of both Run the Jewels albums and the somewhat viral fame of Meow The Jewels, anticipation for the group’s newest feature is very high. Hopefully El-P wasn’t lungs deep in that half pound of weed when he made those tweets, and we really will be able to get our ears on the new album faster than we anticipated.
